EASTENDERS fans have mocked new Ben Mitchell actor Max Bowden's "terrible Michael Caine" accent after the character showed off his tough side in tonight's episode of the BBC One soap.
Max replaced Harry Reid as hardman Phil Mitchell's son, making his Walford debut earlier this month.
However, viewers have struggled to take to the new version of Ben – pointing out that he has appeared to undergo a personality transplant, as well as losing both his hearing aid and glasses.
To top it all off, fans are baffled by Ben's new accent, with many flocking to social media to poke fun at the "mockney" twang during tonight's show.
One critic wrote: "Why is Ben doing a terrible impersonation of Michael Caine?"
Another added: "New Ben is a Primark version of Michael Caine. So poor."
A third said: "You can't just bring Ben back, slap a new personality on him, and still call him Ben Mitchell."

Ben further proved his new nasty streak earlier this evening, defending human trafficking to horrified Keanu Taylor.
The character stunned both Keanu and viewers at home when he referred to the captive women as "cargo" after they were shown looking terrified in the back of a van.
As if that wasn't enough, the episode ended with Ben threatening Lola Pearce after she sneaked off with Jay Brown, who he has forbade the former tearaway from seeing.
