EastEnders star Louisa Lytton has explained how she worked as a receptionist in an inspiring new post.
Louisa, who has recently reprised her role as Ruby Allen after 12 years, has been opening up about having to take on other work outside of acting during her time away from the soap.
In a candid post on Instagram, the actress said: “So, recently I said in an interview that I have had other jobs aside from acting. I really didn’t think anything of it, I’ve had many friends in the Industry and people on social media messaging me about my honest, so I thought I’d natter a tad more.
“I think the initial comment came from my fave interview for @fabulousmag so thanks so much for printing it! It was no ‘secret’, hence why we discussed it in the interview, working as a receptionist and a childminder are both credible and rewarding jobs – that pay well too!
“A job is a job we all have bills to pay. Working with children is just wonderful, having a tiny human by your side brightens any day. I also worked at @yogacentric_crouchend after having no receptionist experience, that was an achievement in itself! I guess what I’m trying to say is this merry go round of the ‘industry’ is normally something we all hop on and off of.”
She added: “Getting another job is part of it, my advice to anyone who ever asks me is find something else you love as well as or that pays the bills for that downtime.
“I don’t have one single ‘actor’ friend that hasn’t faced this. You are never safe. To those who this is relevant to or those that are aspiring actors I hope you agree, to those that are not I hope you continued to scroll.”
Louisa has returned to EastEnders as part of a topical consent story, which is due to kick off next week after she attends a party with Martin Fowler’s friends.
EastEnders continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
