EastEnders spoilers: Will Gray Atkins seek revenge on Chantelle after major betrayal?

Gray (played by Toby-Alexander Smith) has been abusing his wife Chantelle (Jessica Plummer) behind close doors on EastEnders, with his wife clearly terrified of her husband.

As Chantelle knows how volatile her husband can be, she has been doing her best to keep in his good books, even cutting ties with her father, Mitch (Rodger Griffiths).

Chantelle has a lot of resentment towards Mitch for letting her down in the past, but she has had to rebuild a relationship with him for the sake of her younger sister, Bailey Baker (Kara-Leah Fernandes).

Mitch and Gray don’t get on at all and recent scenes of the BBC soap have seen the abusive character take his anger out on Chantelle because of her father, but could he be the reason his daughter’s husband gets revenge on his wife?

Tonight’s instalment of the Walford based drama saw Gray offer some advice to Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) over her son Hunter Owen (Charlie Winter) before making his exit from the Square.

Earlier this week, Gray told Chantelle he had got a place on a scheme to help pursue his career as a solicitor, but it meant he would be away from home.

Before leaving, Gray was adamant Chantelle didn’t spend any of their money as he’d had to pay out a lot to get on the course.

Chantelle assured her husband she wouldn’t dip into their joint account, with Gray stressing: “We’re on a budget Chantelle,” as he pulled out several envelopes of money she could spend on certain things.

However, with Gray out the picture, it wasn’t long before Mitch was on Chantelle’s door step to ask her for some money to help her sister Bailey.

Following her mother’s passing earlier this year, Bailey had been struggling with the loss of her loved one with Mitch wanting to buy his young daughter a telescope to cheer her up.

Chantelle knew her father wanted money before he even started talking and although she seemed reluctant to begin with, the touching moment where Bailey was seen using the telescope at the end of the episode made the loan to her father worth the risk.

It’s likely Chantelle will have given the loan to Mitch using money from her credit card which she shares with Gray.

Upon his return, will Gray question why there is some money missing if Chantelle fails to make up the difference before her husband notices?

Being the volatile and abusive character he is, will Gray seek revenge on his wife for betraying him and helping out her father?

Upcoming scenes will see Chantelle join Bailey as she pays a visit to medium Shyanna (Anita Harris) to reach out to her late mother.

Chantelle will be sceptical about her sister being played by the medium and it seems her feelings will be right as Shyanna pushes Bailey too far.

But she will be left reeling when Shyanna turns her attentions to the young mother and drops a shocking revelation.

Viewers will have to wait and see what Shyanna reveals about Chantelle, but actress Anita, 77, has teased what’s to come from her stint on the show.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain earlier this week, Anita said: “The little one needs sorting out,” but will it be Chantelle the newcomer ends up helping as she uncovers her harrowing abuse ordeal?

Of her time on the soap, legendary actress Anita said: “Like Cats, EastEnders, it’s joining a family and like my Carry On days, they’ve created something that the British public love and to be invited to join that is really special.”

EastEnders continues Friday at 8pm on BBC One.
