EastEnders newcomer Mica Paris has warned her character Ellie Nixon could take down Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).
The star made her debut on the soap this week as the chilling new villain, after it was revealed that Raymond’s adoptive parents had died in a car accident.
Ellie is Raymond’s adopted father’s mother, while Phil is Raymond’s biological dad – and it looks as though there could be tension between the two powerhouses.
When appearing on BBC Breakfast today, the singer teased what’s to come in the next few weeks as she branded her role ‘formidable’.
‘She’s hardcore,’ the star said when describing the newbie. ‘The thing is she is really formidable you know me to be a joker and have a laugh but no she’s very, very intense and you know I think Phil is a little bit worried.’
Turning her attention to filming under the new coronavirus guidelines, Mica pressed: ‘It was tough, well for me it was great I had more time to work on my part.
‘But we had someone walking around with a two-metre stick, checking we were social distancing – it was interesting.
‘I have to say the whole cast, they adapted so well.’
‘The other thing interesting was looking at someone through a Perspex screen – it was very clever how they did it,’ the 51-year-old pressed.
The star has never appeared on the soap before and explained how she was terrified when first walking onto set.
‘The pressure when I first got in, I described it like wearing a nappy and having pampers and baby wipes – I was so afraid, I was terrified,’ she laughed.
‘I was so welcomed by everyone, I got so much love I was fine but at the start, I was terrified.
But I had a great experience on the show and the storyline it gets so intense and she gets more hardcore – it’s brilliant.
‘For me the character was just great.’
One to watch: Thursday October 8 at 7:35pm on BBC One.
