EastEnders‘ Ray Kelly proved he was more determined than ever to keep his secrets under wraps in tonight’s episode as he threatened Jack by bringing up his daughter Penny.
With Jack already suspicious over what Ray is hiding after spotting his injured hand, his intrigue peaks when he notices that Jeff appears to be afraid of Ray when they bump into each other later in the episode.
Despite sharing his thoughts with Mel (and Mel later putting the questions to Ray), it’s not long before Ray manages to charm Mel, leaving her more annoyed at Jack than anything else.
But, in response to Jack’s poking his nose in, Ray soon pays him a visit and threatens Jack by sharing that he has dirt on him too – and leaves Jack furious when he brings up Penny too.
“Your last trip abroad… Paris? Yeah? To see your daughter,” Ray taunts. “Penny, isn’t it? Terrible what happened. All cos Daddy annoyed the wrong people.”
Longterm viewers will remember Penny (played by Mia Mckenna-Bruce) as the daughter of Jack and his first wife Selina from her brief stints in Walford back in 2008.
Penny was paralysed from the waist down following an incident during Jack’s days as a police officer, with it later emerging that the whole happened when corrupt officer Jack was unable to tip-off a drugs baron, prompting an associate to carry out the attack on Penny in revenge.
Penny later moved to Paris, where Jack followed her briefly in 2013, before he moved back to Walford permanently.
But Ray wasn’t done there, as he went on to suggest that he knows that there’s more to Jack and Rainie Cross’ relationship.
“See, I can find out anything about you, Jack,” Ray continued. “I might already know something, so it’s really, really not a good idea to draw my attention. You never know what I’m going to come across about you.
“Look, your brother? That wife of his. Oh, yeah. Here he goes again.”
Despite all the threats thought, it looks like Ray’s days of secret keeping may be numbered, as Mel Owen is set to make a shocking discovery about her ex-husband next week after teaming up with Jack.
What will this mean for Ray and Mel? And does this mean Max will find out about Jack and Rainie sooner rather than later?
