Disney CEO Bob Iger has spoken out about the possibility of X-Men and Deadpool joining the MCU, now that Disney owns 20th Century Fox.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Igor addressed whether Marvel is going absorb the X-Men franchise, and if Kevin Feige will oversee everything.
“I think it only makes sense,” he said. “I want to be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels.”
Then asked if that meant Deadpool could one day become an Avenger, Iger said: “Kevin’s got a lot of ideas. I’m not suggesting that’s one of them. But who knows?”
Back in July, while Disney were still bidding for Fox, Feige revealed that he does have “dreams” about what he’d do with an MCU and X-Men crossover.
“(I won’t make plans) until we’re given the word,” he told Los Angeles Daily News. “I have vague dreams and vague ideas. But right now, bringing to life the 10,000-plus characters that Marvel fully controls is what the gameplan is.”
However, don’t expect to see a crossover anytime soon, as Feige has also stated that the X-Men probably won’t show up in Marvel phase four.
