The EastEnders star, 41, is to present the British version of US game show The Wall — part of his £1million BBC golden handcuffs deal.
Danny, who has taken part in a history series as well as Have I Got News for You, flies out for filming in Poland next month.
A telly source said: “In the eyes of bosses Danny can do no wrong and they think it could give them a Saturday night hit outside of Strictly. Danny’s banter and humour is why the public like him and they’re hoping to capitalise on that. If it all lines up well they want it on TV later this year.
In the US version contestants drop balls into a grid and can win up to £9million.
Recent BBC flops include choir show Pitch Battle and musical series Let It Shine.
Danny landed a gong for his role as Mick Carter at the National Television Awards last week.
Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family series has also done well in ratings.
A BBC source said: “The game show is not expected to affect his EastEnders commitments.”
