Jill Duggar made her surprising return to Counting On earlier in season 10, though fans are a little disappointed that her cameo was short-lived. Jill left the series in 2017 after TLC fired her husband, Derick Dillard, for making transphobic comments about Jazz Jennings on social media. Jill’s appearance also comes amid Derick’s comments about the network and her father, Jim Bob Duggar, which have sparked a few rumors about the couple.
What has Derick been up to since leaving ‘Counting On’?
Counting On fans have not really missed Derick in the wakeof his exit in 2017. Ratings for the series have remained steady in the yearsfollowing his departure, and few, if any, fans expressed their disapproval ofhis firing on social media.
But his exit from the series has affected his family’s income, especially after Jill decided to quit as well. Derick picked up a few side jobsin the years following his departure and is now finishing his law degree at theUniversity of Arkansas.
It is unclear if Jill is getting any money from her family, butnot being a part of Counting On has likely dropped their overall income. This would help explain why Derick recently took a job as a Grubhub deliveryguy.
This could also be why Derick has been speaking out against TLC and Jim Bob in recent months. Taking to Twitter, Derick has bashed the network for not paying him enough when he was on the show, and he even accused Jim Bob of negotiating everyone’s contracts in secret.
Will Derick return?
Despite the reports that he was fired from Counting On,Derick has maintained that he quit the show on his own accord. According to The Hollywood Gossip, he even says that TLC beggedhim and Jill to keep filming and dropped them like a bad habit when theyrefused the offer.
To make things even worse, Derick recently revealed plans towrite a tell-all memoir about his time on Counting On. There is notelling what Derick will include in the book, but it is safe to say that JimBob probably does not approve.
Given his behavior on social media, it seems highly unlikely that Derick will ever return to Counting On. Depending on what he includes in the book, there is a good chance that TLC would turn him down even if he wanted to come back.
That said, Derick recently dodged a question about his possiblereturn to Counting On, so anything is possible at this point.
“On the latest episode we saw Jill,” one fan wrote. “It wasnice to see her. Is there a chance in between your studies you and Jill will beseen? Hope you find answers soon and are doing well. I pray your school studiesare going well.”
“Thank you,” Derick responded.
Is Derick Dillard feuding with Jim Bob Duggar?
Derick and Jim Bob have faced feuding rumors for quite some time. After Derick and Jill left Counting On,the couple stopped spending the majority of time with Jim Bob and MichelleDuggar.
They have consistently missed family gatherings, including Thanksgiving this year. This has fueled the feud rumors even more, and Derick’s comments about TLC and Jim Bob have only made things worse.
In a series of tweets, Derick alluded to the idea that Jim Bob istaking money from TLC and does not give his children their dues. He alsoslammed for TLC for not paying him for his time on Counting On.
If Jim Bob and Derick were not feuding before his comments, theyprobably are now.
Inside Jill’s ‘Counting On’ return
Derick might be dealing with a lot of drama, but that did notstop Jill from returning to Counting Onin season 10.
Jill had a cameo in the show’s special, “Josiah and Lauren’sBaby,” which featured the couple welcoming their daughter, Bella MilagroDuggar. The Counting On special was particularly heartwarming as the twohad suffered a miscarriage in their previous pregnancy.
“There you go, Lauren. Relax right here on yourshoulder. Relax. Beautiful. Down and out. Think, down and out,” JillDuggar assured Lauren in the episode. “Good job, that’s it. Relax right here.Right here.”
Although she made it into the episode, Jill’s face was not shown.Instead, fans were treated to her voice and one shot of her arm as shecomforted Lauren.
Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar have not commented on the rumors surrounding their future on Counting On. With Derick still in school, it might be a long time before they considering returning to the reality show for good.
