Jennie McAlpine has no plans to leave Weatherfield for good and wants to stay part of Coronation Street for the rest of her career.
The actress, 35, has played factory girl Fiz Stape on the ITV soap for 17 years and is currently away from screens while on maternity leave.
But, she wants to emulate her idols and stay on the cobbles — as it’s the “easiest job in the world”.
Jennie is a Corrie obsessive and her dream is to replicate the stints of show legends like Jean Alexander, Eileen Derbyshire and Bill Roach.
She has her whole life based in Manchester with husband Chris Farr and their two children Albert, and Hilda — named after Jean’s iconic character.
Speaking on the Humans of XS Manchester podcast, she said: “I’ve been in Corrie for 17 years now, I love it.
“I’m fine playing this one character.
“I can’t take it for granted, because they [the writers] might have other ideas.
“It was such an honour to know Tony Warren [the show’s creator].
“When I got the part it was just supposed to be for four episodes. I was still working in Boots,” she added.
