Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) is currently involved in a dramatic storyline after sleeping with Carla Connor (Alison King). The two of them have tried desperately to keep their night of passion a secret but with Peter’s (Chris Gascoyne) paranoia getting out of control, it resulted in a big confrontation in the Rovers during Wednesday’s episode.
Now we all know life as a soap star comes with it’s advantages: you are on television so often, and when it comes to being an actor on Coronation Street, you’re part of the longest running soap opera in the world, what more could you ask for?!
However, it would appear the fan attention that comes with being a firm favourite in Corrie became a little too much for Sam, as he recently told Metro.co.uk:
‘This job can be overwhelming because you can’t escape it. If you go out for lunch, it’s impossible to have an hour out of the house. The first eighteen months, it was more than ever – camera phones weren’t as common as they are now, but you adapt!’
Sam continued, mentioning how the face masks we’re all having to wear right now have actually been a help to him when it comes to coping with fan attention:
‘The masks has been a nice thing – no-one knows who I am! I am proud of it, it’s part of the job. Sometimes, you want to park it and leave the character if you’re having a tough time, but it’s genuinely humbling to be a part of it.’
