Billy Mayhew (played by Daniel Brocklebank) struggled to find love on Coronation Street after Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) left him and foster daughter Summer Spellman (Matilda Freeman) unexpectedly two years ago.
The vicar was determined to remain devoted to his religion, but his head was turned when Gemma Winter’s twin brother Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) arrived on the ITV soap earlier this year.
Although the pair got off to a shaky start, they eventually decided to give things a go, with Paul respectful of Billy’s commitment to the church and Summer.
Next week however, the couple face a major challenge it seems they can’t come back from when Billy claims Paul’s dodgy past has caught up with him.
Paul originally arrived in Weatherfield fresh out of prison, having taken the wrap for a crime Gemma had committed years before.
It did seem Paul had chip on his shoulder, but he eventually settled down and even got himself a job packing at the Underworld factory.
Recent scenes have seen him clash with factory worker and Billy’s ex-boyfriend Sean Tully (Antony Cotton), after a bit of mischief from the loveable rogue lead to the Rovers barman’s possible romance fizzling out.
Tonight’s instalment will see Sean blame Paul for stealing a charity box from the medical centre, with the former jailbird questioned by police about the crime.
After the fiery confrontation between the two men, Sean is attacked, leaving him traumatised and as next week’s drama gets underway, Paul will become the prime suspect.
Gemma’s twin is adamant he didn’t steal the money or was the sinister character behind the attack and it’s not until after the accusations have been the thrown is the true culprit revealed.
Billy loves a bad boy

Paul meets with his friend Marley, who tells him attacked Sean and took the charity box money, with Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) admitting to Billy he saw the criminal steal the cash.
Billy goes on to report his boyfriend’s friend to the police and feeling betrayed, Paul ends the relationship as he believes he can no longer trust the vicar.
Feeling guilty, Billy tries to make amends for Paul, only to find him on a date with another man in an attempt to get over his heartbreak.
Is this really the end of the much loved couple, or will Billy and Paul realise they’re meant to be together?
Speaking about Billy’s future with Paul earlier this year, actor Daniel Brocklebank, 39, who plays the vicar said: “Billy loves a bad boy and there’s definitely chemistry there, but Billy is not very confident where dating is concerned, he’s definitely not cool.”
The Coronation Street star continued: “If Billy can pull this one out of the bag he deserves a beer,” so does this mean the vicar is going to fight for his man?
Elsewhere in Weatherfield, danger could be looming for Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) as she gets closer to newcomer Jan Lozinski (Piotr Baumann).
It has been hinted in recent weeks Jan is part of the slavery storyline involving Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu), so he does have a dark side to his persona.
Eileen opens up to Jan next week about her past with serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre), with Jan telling her she will find someone else before the pair share a kiss.
With darkness lingering in the air, could Eileen find herself in another deadly setup as Jan’s true colours are unveiled?
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
