Coronation Street spoilers: Gary Windass to split from Sarah Platt after DEADLY threat?

Gary (played by Mikey North) was seen trying to cover his tracks on Coronation Street as Underworld factory boss Carla Connor (Alison King) was called in for questioning over her part in the roof collapse which Gary had warned her about.

After Carla assured him and his partner Sarah (Tina O’Brien) she’d kept his name out of her confession, having lied about the circumstances behind the roof collapse initially, the factory boss put her foot in it by telling Gary’s girlfriend about his deal with Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).

Sarah was aware Peter was willing to buy Gary’s silence about warning Carla over the roof’s condition prior to the collapse, however, what she didn’t know was her boyfriend had accepted the deal as he owed money to loan shark Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) who is returning to the ITV soap.

Recently, viewers have seen Rick pester Gary for the money he owes, but out of pocket and with no work coming in, the builder has had to take action to try and ensure he meets the loan sharks demands.

She’s terrified of what will happen

However, it appears Rick will begin messing with Gary’s family as he ups the anti over the repayment charges the builder is incurring, with the interest only increasing overtime he fails to deliver the goods.

Upcoming scenes will apparently see Rick turn his attentions to Sarah and her young children Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) and little Harry as Gary tries to save café worker Alex Warner (Liam Bairstow) being lured into the loan shark’s dangerous world.

Speaking about the possible heartbreaking scenes for the loved-up couple, a source told The Sun: “Rick visits Sarah and makes it clear she and the kids will be the ones to pay if Gary walks away,” with the builder supposedly deciding to call quits on his deal with the loan shark.

“She’s terrified of what will happen so she tells Gary’s it’s over because she has to protect her kids,” the source continued.

However, with Gary not wanting another aspect of his life to disappear, the builder will try all he can to win back Sarah if the break up does happen with the couple having already faced relationship issues in the past.

Earlier this year, Sarah became concerned Gary was falling for the mother of his young son Issac when Nicola Rubinstein (Nicola Throp) returned to the cobbles, leaving her seeking attention from Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).

However, Adam read the signals wrong and ended up trying to kiss Sarah, leading to another dispute between the blonde and her boyfriend but managed to move past it with the loan shark drama being the next possible hurdle in their way.

If Gary and Sarah do break up, the builder could take revenge on the loan shark to ensure he doesn’t interfere in his life again, with his anger bubbling to the surface over his tarnished relationship.

Gary is one of the suspects in the line-up to be the next super villain set to terrorise the streets of Weatherfield, with the roof collapse being caused by the unknown character although no-one yet knows this information.

As one of the character’s in the line-up, Gary could emerge as the villain if he claims Rick’s life, wanting to get rid of the loan shark once and for all as the menacing character has caused trouble on the cobbles for years.

Rick’s death could mean Gary has claimed two lives in as many months, with the factory collapse killing beloved character Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) a couple of weeks ago.

Speaking about the possibility his character could be the new super villain, following in the foot steps of criminal adversary Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre), actor Mikey North, 32, hinted the builder’s bad side could be the trigger to identify him as the menace.

The Coronation Street star told Digital Spy: “Gary came into the show as a bit of a ‘chavvy villain’, I always say. He was fiery and always getting into scrapes, sometimes on the wrong side of the law – he’s a Windass after all.

“It’s always nice to see things come full circle with a character. He was like that once so it’s definitely within him.”

If Gary does turn out to be the super villain and commit another murder by getting rid of Rick, will he reunite with Sarah if the couple do split?

Elsewhere in Weatherfield, Carla is currently taking the flack for causing the factory roof tragedy, but a devastating plot twist could see her homeless as she becomes gripped by a mental health struggle.

Coronation Street continues Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
