Coronation Street spoilers: Carla Connor spirals further in very troubling scenes

Carla (played by Alison King) has been blamed for Rana’s (Bhavna Limbachia) death on the ITV soap as she knew the factory roof was badly damaged already.

The aftermath of Rana’s demise and news of how much Carla knew has seen the boss’ loved ones turn against her on Coronation Street.

On top of that, she’s also been receiving menacing messages from someone pretending to be Rana.

It has already been revealed by the soap that she’s set to spiral as her mental health worsens, and fans can now get a glimpse of Carla’s state.

Filming pictures show Carla looking a shadow of her former self as she sits on a park bench with a harrowing look on her face.

It seems as though her scared state is enough to trouble a passer-by as a runner comes to sit beside Carla.

It looks like the jogger offers Carla some support but it remains to be seen if it will have a positive effect on poor Carla.

The snaps come as Carla is set to go missing from the street for a while.

Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) goes searching for her and is heartbroken when he can’t find her.

On his return to the street, he tells her family about her fragile state and they decide to help in the search for their missing loved one.

Later on, Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) turns against her old flame Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill), who is also a suspect in the factory collapse.

She blames him for Carla’s breakdown, telling him it was his naming and shaming of her at Rana’s memorial which led to it.

Carla actress Alison has explained the reason why the character does a disappearing act.

She told Digital Spy: “Carla just wants to get away from everyone – it’s gone beyond the point where she can sit down and talk about it.

“Carla needs to talk to a doctor but she’s not ready for that. She thinks everybody is in on it, that they want to make her suffer and to put her in prison.

“It’s not even the thought of prison that she’s running away from, it’s what’s going on in her head and the thought that she just needs to get away from them all and be on her own.”

The identity of Carla’s mystery tormentor, who is pretending to be Rana, is yet to be revealed.

Although there could certainly be a number of culprits.

Could it be Lolly (Katherine Pearce), Kate Connor’s (Faye Brookes) old school friend who tried to sabotage her wedding?

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
