Meanwhile, the gun rampage will spark a turning point for Gary, who has turned into the soap's latest villain.
He previously killed Rana Habeeb and Rick Neelan, and has been on the verge of murdering a third victim any day now.
Soap boss Iain MacLeod said that Gary could try and redeem himself, saying at a press day: "For the first time he sits down and tries to rationalise the terrible things that have happened, he will find he’s unable to talk himself out of his guilt."
