Coronation Street has confirmed that Rana Nazir’s father Hassan Habeeb will be killed off.
Hassan dies in hospital next week, a few days after suffering a stroke during his 60th birthday party.
The outcome of the storyline has been announced on Coronation Street‘s official website today (August 6), revealing more heartbreak for Rana.
When Rana (Bhavna Limbachia) initially hears about her father’s stroke, she’s left distraught as her mother Saira tries to ban her from his hospital room.
Rana was disowned by her family when she decided to pursue a relationship with Kate Connor, which is still going strong.
However, next week Rana lies that it’s all over with Kate, knowing this will be enough to see her seriously-ill father one last time.
A post on Corrie‘s website explained: “Saira agrees to let Rana see her father, but tells him Rana has seen ‘the error of her ways’.
“He squeezes his daughter’s hand and passes away. Rana is wracked with guilt that she lied to her father on his deathbed, how will she cope?”
Played by Kriss Dosanjh, the character of Hassan has made a handful of appearances in Corrie as a guest since November 2016.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
