Casualty recently shocked viewers when paramedic Sam Nicholls was brutally killed off after being fatally injured in a huge motorway pile-up.
Poor Sam met her tragic end when she suffered a fatal bleed at the ambulance station, while Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson) desperately tried to resuscitate her.
But the soap isn’t giving us much time to recover, as they’ve launched a new trailer teasing “a new era” for Holby.
It begins with Dylan Keogh (William Beck) being asked how he’d describe the A&E department at the hospital, to which he replies first “a dysfunctional family” and then: “Vietnam – the war, not the place.”
And things certainly look far from harmonious, as the trailer then gives us glimpses of a fire, a car crash and more than one punch-up.
We also get to see Alicia Munroe (Chelsea Halfpenny) facing her alleged rapist Eddie McAllister (Joe Gaminara) in court and Lisa Duffin (Cathy Shipton) and Charlie Fairhead (Derek Thompson) looking very upset about something.
And Iain is clearly blaming himself for Sam’s tragic death, as he visits her in the morgue and struggles with his emotions. “I’m so sorry, Sam,” he says. “This is all my fault”.
Actress Charlotte Salt, who played Sam, told Digital Spy that we can expect to see Iain “spiral into a demise” after Sam’s death.
“We will see a dark side to him that we haven’t really seen before,” she said. “They needed something to kick start that and for something to be that reason.”
In September we’ll also be getting our first glimpse of Jacob Masters’s mum Omo, played by former EastEnders star Ellen Thomas.
Casualty continues on Saturday, August 18 on BBC One.
