Jane McDonald opens the British Soap Awards 2023
Coronation Street has a successful evening during this year’s British Soap Awards which was held on Saturday but broadcast on ITV on Tuesday night.
One star of the Weatherfield soap who had a victorious evening was Charlotte Jordan who plays Daisy Midgeley in the ITV drama.
She won the award for Best Dramatic Performance as well as Best Single Episode and Scene of the Year for the traumatic acid attack storyline Daisy was involved in.
As the ceremony aired, British Soap Awards viewers headed to Twitter to hit out over Coronation Street’s wins.
@Flowerbomb212 shared: “These soap awards are rigged. This girl in pink from Corrie is behaving in a way that takes all seriousness away from any storylines she may have been in.
“@BBCeastenders are being robbed here. People do not understand the impact of brain tumours. #BritishSoapAwards.”
Rob echoed: “Watching the #SoapAwards and some of this is definitely rigged by ITV!”
Summer said: “Unpopular opinion but a neutral channel should get the soap awards so it 100 percent can’t be rigged.”

However, @MeenajutlaMP shared: “I’m obsessed with Charlotte winning all the awards as she should.”
Callum Keith remarked: “#SoapAwards I’ve praised this storyline a lot tonight. So I’ve got nothing much else to say, other than congratulations again to Charlotte Jordan for the Best Dramatic Performance award!”
