In an exclusive clip on Good Morning Britain the commander (Gina McKee) is seen looking very uncomfortable while discussing the latest developments of the case with Inspector Deepak Sharma (Ash Tandon).
After weeks of questions, clues and hints the inspector seems to be drawing close to finding out who set off the bomb which killed the Home Secretary, Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes).
With the help of David Budd he is looking into Luke Aitkens (Matt Stokes) who is connected to Chanel Dyson (Stephanie Hyam).
In the clip, Sampson enters the investigation room and sees the image of the crime lord Luke on the wall.
Deepak explains the latest link, telling her: “Luke Aitkens, we are exploring if he could have played a role in the assignation of the home secretary. Possible motivation being to prevent increased scrutiny into criminal communications.”
He continued: “Aitkens is a significant player in organised crime and as you know Ma’am he has always successfully avoided criminal charges.”
Looking very confused, she asked him: “As I know?”
Baffled he tells her: “Yes I saw in the file that you led the organised crime unit across the investigations into Aitkens’ activities…”
Increasingly uncomfortable, she snapped back: “Well that was some time ago, why wasn’t I informed earlier about this new line of enquiry. Who initiated it?”
He replied: “I am acting on information from David Budd.”
There are currently a number of characters who have been linked to Julia’s death – with numerous fan theories doing the rounds.
Others believe that Julia isn’t dead at all, a theory that was fuelled by the show’s creator Jed Mercurio earlier this week.
Viewers have just a few days to wait until Sunday’s 75 minute explosive conclusion.
