'BIP:' Tayshia Adams Says Distance Wasn't the Sole Reason for Split With John Paul Jones

Long-distance relationships are never easy. In fact, distance has been the source of one too many Bachelor breakups. But for Tayshia Adams and John Paul Jones, long-distance wasn’t the only factor that led to their split. When Adams announced on October 30, that she and Jones had broken up for good, fans of the Bachelor in Paradise couple were devastated. But, even more than that, they were confused. As Jones recently made the move to Los Angeles, very close to where Adams resides, most people assumed that he’d made the leap for her.

Why did John Paul Jones move to Los Angeles

Jones certainly helped to feed that narrative in an interview he gave to Us Weekly. Citing his acting career and his relationship with Adams, he shared that moving to Los Angeles the right decision for him. “A few opportunities came up that were really just too hard to pass up and it just made sense to move,” the Maryland native shared about his decision to relocate.

Jones continued on to say that Adams living close by helped make the move all the better. “Tayshia is only an hour and a half away so that was a big draw and to my surprise, a talent agent reached out to me and they’ve been consistently getting me auditions and I’m waiting to hear back [on projects]. I honestly never could’ve expected this entire occurrence, it’s completely crazy. I’ll never be able to do this again so it just seemed like the right move,” Jones shared.

Tayshia Adams never asked JPJ to move for her

Of course, the headline that eventually came out of that interview made it seem like Adams was Jones’ primary reason for relocating and she was not at all pleased by that. Recently, Adams made her feelings known when she was a guest on the podcast Bachelor Party. The 29-year-old was adamant that Jones had moved for his acting career and that she never asked him to make the move for her.

“The fact that that’s the headline really does piss me off. Since the very beginning, I’ve told my friends, my family, everyone knows this — I will not have someone move for me unless we’re in a serious relationship. He moved here because he wanted to be an actor and because he is getting auditions and it was easier for them to attend those as opposed to flying out. That’s why he moved here and he knew that story since the very beginning,” the Bachelor in Paradise alum shared candidly about Jones and their relationship.

There were other factors that led to the breakup

Whether Jones made the switch for Adams is up for debate. But, according to Adams, it wasn’t the only reason that their romantic relationship eventually deteriorated. Adams was quick to share that “there were other factors,” that went into the decision. One of those reasons was the lack of clear, consistent, communication. Citing a previous relationship, Adams shared that she had learned to be very straightforward with her needs.

Another factor in play seemed to be age. As there is a five year age gap between Adams and Jones, there seemed to be a gap in the level of maturity and overall experience. “I told him, I’m like honestly, ‘I just want you to experience a little more life. I feel like you just need to live a little bit and learn a little bit because I feel like I can only do so much,’” Adams said of Jones. Well, we can’t say we didn’t seem this breakup coming, but we wish the ex-couple the best as they go their separate ways.
