Big Brother’s Imogen Thomas says ‘it’s a shame’ Davina McCall isn’t reboot host

Big Brother legend Imogen Thomas says "it's a shame" that Davina McCall is presenting the rebooted ITV2 series of the reality show.

The 40-year-old former Miss Wales appeared on the programme back in 2006 when it aired on Channel 4 and was hosted by Davina. She lived in the house alongside the likes of Glyn Wise, Nikki Grahame and Pete Bennett until she got evicted on Day 86.

It has been 17 years since Imogen walked through the doors back into reality following an impressive three months inside the most famous house in Britain and she's had her say on the 2023 version of the show after it was brought back after a five-year hiatus.

Recalling the moment when she learned Big Brother was coming back after it got axed by Channel 5 in 2018, Imogen said: "I was chuffed. I felt like it was a long time coming and we kind of needed some good reality TV that is purely not going to be on your looks and they way you are and everything.

"I would have loved to have had Davina [McCall] back though, it's a shame she's not back presenting it but this will do. I'm still enjoying it. I'm loving they kept the same theme tune." AJ Odudu and Will Best have following in the footsteps of Davina, Emma Willis and Brian Dowling and are now the presenters of Big Brother.

Davina herself has revealed she would like to feature on the new series. During an interview on Fleur East's breakfast show on Hits Radio, the TV personality revealed she would love to use her famous "fancy another one" phrase one last time.

"I only want to appear once and then I will never be on it again and I shall watch from my sofa, but I think I should be pre-titles and I think I should say, 'Hey, fancy another one?'," she said.

During her time presenting the show on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010, Davina would use the phrase before introducing a new housemate – with the clips resurfacing across social media years after the show ended. AJ and Will did give a nod to Davina's catchphrase during the launch show earlier this month but Davina was nowhere to be seen.

However, there's still a few weeks left of the current series and plenty for Davina or some other Big Brother legends to make an appearance. When asked if she'd return to the show, Imogen said: "Yeah definitely. I would do it because I've changed a lot since 17 years ago and I wouldn't be too scared to tell about exactly how I feel about them so I'd love to go in and stir the pot a bit."

Imogen was speaking to Daily Star on behalf of safebettingsites.com. Big Brother airs Sunday to Thursday on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm followed by Big Brother Late & Live at 10pm
