Manon Lagreve has become the next baker to leave the Great British Bake Off tent after failing to impress with her Danish cookery.
The Scandinavian challenges of Smorrebrod, Aebleskiver and Kagemand/Kagekon were too much for Manon, with her coming second to last in the technical and making some unimpressive Danish pastry with the wrong butter, which meant her pastry "congealed" in a shock moment.
While Manon was failing spectacularly in her baking, Ruby Bhogal won her first Star Baker spot after wowing with delicious rye bread and coming second in the technical challenge.
On her departure, Manon said: "I love Denmark, I have been twice to Copenhagen, and my best friend is Danish but none of that helped me! I do have a good relationship with Denmark and know it well, and I was hoping I could have made my friend proud, but she has now forgiven me!
"Every week I remained in the tent was a bonus and to be a quarter finalist, well that for me was a huge personal achievement. I didn’t make it to Patisserie week, and that’s a shame as that is what we French are known for!
"I so wanted to get to that particular week as it would have made my parents so proud, but it was not to be, c’est la vie!"
The 26-year-old, from a small village in Brittany, admitted she is used to cooking French dishes, though her food has become more diverse since moving to London, with her first challenge in Biscuit Week showing off her love of Japanese cuisine with her Tokyo selfie biscuit.

But since leaving the tent, she has said she has no idea what will happen now in her baking future.
She said: "I am not sure what the future holds for me but I am open minded and happy to look at any new ventures. The bakers are such a tight group of friends, it has been amazing, a group of us are planning a trip to Berlin in November, and we have lots of other plans ahead, so it’s going to be a lifetime friendship I think."
Manon also admitted she thought Kim Joy was the biggest competition, confirming she agreed she would dye her hair after Week 5 to be similar to her baking companion’s trademark look.
At the end of the episode Manon said: “I have learned so much, and so many things I didn’t think I would actually be able to make. I am a stronger baker, and hopefully a stronger person.”
Prue added: “You should be proud of yourself, I mean to get this far is amazing… I am so sad to see Manon go she is a really good French baker, just not a very good Danish one.”
Meanwhile, Ruby was absolutely ecstatic to earn Star Baker, while Rahul Mandal feared he would be the one to exit after burning his technical, burning his showstopper, and making bread so bad, Paul Hollywood refused to eat it after one bite.
The bakers all wore Hawaiian shirts to pay tribute to their recently departed competitior, Jon Jenkins .
The Great British Bake Off continues at 8pm on Tuesday on Channel 4, and Manon will appear on An Extra Slice on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
