Ariana also shares her spot-on Celine Dion impression, and her two-year-old birthday party theme that scared the other children away.
Ariana Grande just killed it on "Carpool Karaoke" perhaps more than any other singer before her, and she proved she’s one of the funniest, too.
The pop star responded to the rumors that she likes to be carried in epic fashion, both with a proper explanation, and by riding James Corden’s back into a Starbucks where she asked everyone, "Did you know I demand to be carried everywhere? That is the kind of pop star I am. I just want you all to know. If you see me anywhere, it’s because I didn’t walk there myself. I promise."
The truth behind that rumor, which Corden brought up, was far less charming, but still sweet. "There was a picture of me being carried by my tour manager because I had just shot a video in pointe shoes," Grande explained. "And I posted it ’cause I thought it was cute. Like my toes were bleeding. I was like in pain and I was like oh, cute, thank you, like whatever."
"So that isn’t true, you don’t get carried anywhere?" Corden asked, just to clarify.
"No, thats so stupid! Are you crazy?!"
But it wasn’t just hilarious banter between the two. Grande took her songs to the next level when performing them alongside Corden. Rather than just sing along, as most guests do, she harmonized with her own recording, and even took her hits to new heights by dropping in new runs and octaves to enhance the original song.
Grande’s fans already know she has some dead-on impressions of other pop divas, but she explained to Corden that his came about because she grew up emulating them while trying to find her own unique voice. Along the way, she just picked up theirs.
When asked to show a Celine Dion run, Grande instead gave a full-in impression of the Canadian diva, including flawless impressions of her singing and speaking voices.
Corden was loving every moment of their time together, except that he was a little freaked out when she admitted her two-year-old birthday party was "Jaws" themed, because it was her favorite move. "It’s weird in there," she said, pointing to her own head. "It’s weird in there, man."
