When it premiered last fall, “American Vandal” was — for lack of a better phrase — the best thing. Layered and insightful in ways no one could have predicted when the series’ first trailer dropped, it managed to take a season-long joke about spray-painted penises and craft an incredible high school comedy that never sacrificed authentic emotions for laughs.
Well, let’s see if they can do the same thing with diarrhea.
Season 2 of “American Vandal” is still told through the eyes of high school documentarians Peter Maldonado (Tyler Alvarez) and Sam (Griffin Gluck). Only this time, they’ve answered the call of a desperate student body trying to figure out who used the Catholic school’s cafeteria special to give everyone an…explosive case of food poisoning. If “#WhoDrewTheDicks” was a test case for one young man’s guilt or innocence, this looks like a school-wide horror show.
On top of it all, it looks like Peter and Sam are aware of some of the success of the first season of “American Vandal,” which opens the door for some pretzel-twisted metajokes on top of solving the mystery behind the identity of the enigmatic Turd Burglar threatening the school.
Oh, the poop euphemisms. There are going to be so many poop euphemisms.
