Alex Jones, 43, was on hand to host another weekday instalment of The One Show, this week joined by co-star and guest presenter, Angellica Bell, 44. The pair discussed many topical matters, including the latest developments on the coronavirus crisis, as well as offering BBC viewers some light relief from current events. Towards the end of the programme, they were joined by singer-songwriter Sir Bob Geldof, 68, to talk about his new music and how life has been treating him in lockdown. However, he left his interviewers bewildered as he spoke via video from his home.

It seemed Sir Bob was situated in a study at his home and he sat wearing a purple shirt with a rather rugged hairdo.

As hairdressers have been closed during the lockdown, the musician has let his hair grow longer as he is known for sporting long locks.

The guest also had a full beard and moustache to complete the look and his appearance didn’t go unnoticed by Alex and Angellica.

After viewing a segment about wildlife made by Springwatch presenter Chris Packham, 59, the host joked how the singer-songwriter was in tune with the previous part of the show as she voiced her shock at his new look.

Introducing the guest, Alex said as she was bewildered by his look: “From a man looking at wildlife to a man looking more and more wild, honestly, as lockdown goes on, it’s Sir Bob Geldof.”

Angellica added: “Looking at you, we assume you’re growing your hair, you’re growing your beard, have you done anything different in lockdown, things you wouldn’t normally do?”

Sir Bob joined in with the humorous response to his appearance as he replied: “Well, it was just in preparation for you guys. Another spectacle of nature here. Going wild as you do.

“This is my contribution to the country at a standstill. Since the sorry demise of Kenny Rodgers, I thought I would take up the vacancy.”
