Having presented Big Brother’s Bit On The Side with Rylan Clark when Channel 5 revived the iconic reality show it is unsurprising Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Odudu is excited about the upcoming ITV2 reboot. However, rather than being a spectator, the star is keen to host the show.
AJ has made no secret of her ambition, detailing: “I feel like the Big Brother stans are really out in full force – it’s incredible!
“I’m taking it all with a pinch of salt. It’s all fun.
“Obviously, I’ve made no secret about how I would love to be considered to host such an iconic comeback, but who knows?”
The host went on to tease Huff Post: “You’ll just have to wait and see.
“It’s nice that everyone is excited that the show is coming back, because I’m excited even from a viewer’s perspective – this is what I’ve been missing on my TV, and I cannot wait for it to come back!”
Davina McCall hosted the original incarnation of the TV phenomenon on Channel 4.
Emma Willis was drafted in to present the revival from 2013 to 2018 when it moved to Channel 5.
She has ruled herself out of a return though and instead has backed AJ for the role.
“I know how much she loves it. I know how brilliant she is at live TV,” she told the Radio Times.
“You need somebody who can handle that situation, but you really need somebody that loves that show and genuinely wants to talk about it, is invested in it and wants to watch it every night for months on end. I know she does.”
Big Brother made stars of many of its participants who went on to become TV and radio presenters.
Possibly the most high-profile former contestant is Alison Hammond who is currently one of the hosts of ITV’s This morning.

She entered the house in 2002 and became the second contestant to be evicted – proof you don’t need to win the show to find success afterwards.
Big Brother is due to return to screens this autumn with applications for contestants currently open.
While many names have been touted about as a potential presenter ITV have yet to make and official announcement.
But as she anxiously awaits a decision from the powers that be AJ has plenty to keep her busy.
She is set to be one of the hosts of this years Red Nose Day taking place this coming Friday.
AJ has very fond memories of the telethon as she recalled: “We were always calling in to donate and that feeling like a really special thing to do.
“At school it would always be a big thing as well… non-uniform day, people baking cakes, we’d get to wear our noses in class!
“It was always really fun and silly – I love the humour around Comic Relief and Red Nose Day.”
Red Nose Day is on BBC One on Friday from 7pm.
