90 Day Fiancé couple Stephanie Matto and Erika Owens have had some trouble recently. During a recent episode, it seemed as though the couple weren’t seeing eye-to-eye when it comes to Owens’ friends. To make matters worse, Matto has been facing a variety of attacks from 90 Day Fiancé fans throughout the season. Some fans questioned Matto’s intentions, and others questioned her sexuality. Now, it seems as though Matto has had enough. The reality star has shut down her Instagram, and her friend is lashing out at the haters.
Stephanie Matto feels put off by Erika Owens’ friend
During a recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Stephanie Matto attended a party with Erika Owens and her friends. Of course it can be intimidating to be introduced to an entire crowd of new people, especially when they have a complex social history together already.
This seemed to put Matto off somewhat, and things only got worse for her as the night wore on. Erika Owens’ friend, Adam, shared a close friendship with Owens. The two have kissed previously, and occasionally sleep in the same bed when they crash at each others’ house. Matto felt uncomfortable being around people that Owens’ may have previously been intimate with.
Additionally, Stephanie Matto seemed unimpressed when Owens chugged beer from a keg hose, especially after she let out an impressive belch following the chug. Altogether, Matto seemed to feel anxious and uncomfortable during the event.
The 90 Day Fiancé star faced some backlash from fans who felt as though she was being a wet blanket, and reacting unreasonably to Owens and her friends. However, others felt sympathy for Matto, especially after hearing that Owens had been intimate with some of the people at the party.
Stephanie Matto’s friend calls out trolls
Since the last episode aired, Stephanie Matto has deactivated her Instagram account. A friend of hers took to Instagram to call out trolls who have been bothering the 90 Day Fiancé star since her season premiered.
Her friend included a photo of herself and Matto at the airport in her post, to which she added a lengthy caption. She wrote in part, “We took this picture at the airport right before Stephanie left for Australia. If I knew then what I know now about how everything was going to be edited and all the hate she would receive, I would have turned that car around and not let her go. With tonight’s episode inevitably just bringing in more scrutiny I decided I was going to take a moment to say what I see from my view.”
She continued, “Stephanie, your sexuality and illness do not define who you are. Your sexuality is something you let few of us know for so long and I’m proud of you for sharing it the way you did. … You decided to do this show because it was supposed to be fun for everyone. No one could have foreseen anything that happened or how they would broadcast it.”
“You went to Australia with pure intentions. It’s okay that all the Karens, Carols, and Susans want to sh*t talk you and say nasty things online. They’re all middle-aged mothers who hate their children and are in unhappy marriages. I would sh*t talk you too if I were them,” she opined.
‘90 Day Fiancé’ fans react
90 Day Fiancé fans on Reddit were quick to react to Stephanie Matto’s friend. The reply to the post was largely negative.
One user commented that regardless of how Matto defines herself, they wouldn’t have been a fan. They wrote, “I don’t care if she’s a boy, girl, bisexual, pansexual, homosexual I really don’t care what she is, what I hate is her conceited personality and her voice that makes my ears bleed.”
“Love how the beginning is all about her illness and sexuality when people simply dont like her because of her personality,” added another user.
“If you’re gonna sh*t on a show you put yourself on knowing how trash it is, it only proves even more how stupid you really are. It’s not like you didn’t know how they made edits before you decided to get on it,” opined another Redditor.
