'90 Day Fiancé': Big Ed Showers With Rose's Dad, Doesn't Want to Spend the Night

90 Day Fiancé fans have been watching Big Ed try to adjust to and take in Rose’s lifestyle in the Philippines, and they have not been disappointed. Suffice it to say, Ed has not had an easy time getting used to Rose’s usual daily life. This was especially apparent during a scene in which Ed takes a shower, Filipino style, with Rose’s dad. The reality star seemed shocked and confused, and a roaming rodent seemed to send him over the edge.

When Big Ed arrived in the Philippines, it soon became clear that the 90 Day Fiancé star hadn’t done too much research. Ed seemed to struggle mightily with the heat and humidity, and was frequently shocked and surprised by the cultural and lifestyle differences he saw around him.

This was especially apparent when Big Ed arrived at Rose’s house. Prior to this, the two were spending time together in Manila. However, Rose lives deeper in the countryside, where poverty is a widespread issue.

When Ed arrived at Rose’s home, he met her sister, Maria. Ed had previously revealed to production that Maria had asked him for money. He said, “It’s awkward meeting Rose’s sister Maria, because we have this secret. She asked me for money and asked me not to tell Rose. I still don’t know if Rose is involved or not.”

Maria showed Ed around the family home. Ed was shocked to discover a small house in the back of a store the family runs. The home had no windows, and Ed felt concerned about bats and bugs entering the house.

“It’s all open up above, and they don’t really have a front door, it’s just kind of a curtain of paper CD covers. It’s all concrete with sheets hanging, covering, I guess to make it more homey. I expected it to be pretty bad, but this is really bad,” he explained.

Big Ed was soon tossed deeper into unexpected cultural waters by Rose. She asked her 90 Day Fiancé partner if he’d like to take a shower, explaining that they often do this as a family.

Ed seemed confused. He soon realized that this wasn’t a shower in the sense he was accustomed to. After removing his shirt, Rose and her father showed him how he ought to wash himself using the tabo, a Filipino dipper. Ed seemed to struggle with the cold water.

Ed eventually asked Rose to wait up between scoops of water. He was surprised to find chickens, and didn’t seem to cope well with Rose rinsing with the hose, eventually proclaiming, “Okay I’m done! I’m done, I’m done! I’m done!”

When Big Ed spotted a rat hiding near the wall, that seemed to send him over the edge. “I can’t wait to get out of here, so I’m going to make hotel reservations as soon as possible. But first I want to ask her father if it’s okay out of respect, because I’m a father and I would expect the same. But I’m not sure how he’s feeling about me, what if he says no?”

‘90 Day Fiancé’ fans react to the shower scene

Many 90 Day Fiancé fans seemed put off by Big Ed’s behavior during his visit to Rose’s family home. Some users feel irritated by Ed’s lack of grace when it comes to the conditions Rose and her family live with.

One Redditor commented, “Why is he acting as if everything is new to him??? Rose has always been honest about her living conditions and her lifestyle. He should have researched more about the area he was flying to. He has this superior attitude towards Rose’ living condition. Had I been in her place, I would have kicked him out of Asia because me and my family’s self respect is more important than some random dude who acts like a sexual predator.”

“He’s so p*ssy. I love how unapologetic Rose is about her living situation,” added another user.

One YouTube user commented, “He’s so ridiculous and pretentious. He should get over himself. So disrespectful towards her family. He fakes nice and a gentleman [sic].”

“I love how Rose isn’t embarrassed about where she comes from. Humble queen!” added another.
