1. Ladybird

Saoirse Ronan stars as a teenager with a turbulent relationship with her mother.

The protective woman come to blows with her daughter over issues like sex, boyfriends and university.

Laurie Metcalf's character is loving, opinionated and strong-willed, grappling with the fact that while she struggles to keep her family afloat, her daughter is exploring her own awakening.

With appearances from Timothée Chalamet and set in an economically-shifting California in 2002, it'll no doubt bring up a whole load of conflicting feelings for viewers.

2. The Breakfast Club

A cult classic that is a must see, if you haven’t already.

The Breakfast Club follows group of rebellious teenagers in detention bond over their struggles both in school and out. 

Each one of them are bound to the high school caste system, one way or another.

The films shows scenes of soul-searching and depictions of adults that most teenagers probably agree with.

This crime thriller follows Frank Sheeran (Robert De Niro) as he looks back on his work for the Bufalino crime family.

If you're a fan of The Godfather films or Goodfellas, this'll be right up your street.

4. Clueless

A 90s classic, perfect for when you need an uplifting film with plenty of laughs.

Based on the lives of the ultra-rich teenagers in a Beverley Hills high school.

The satirical take on the pampered upper-class girls who care more about the right clothes than grades is popular to this day.

Starring Paul Rudd and Alicia Silverstone, you'll be in for some laughs, eye-catching outfits and witty comebacks.

5. Hillbilly Elegy 

The American drama film premiered on the popular streaming service last month and has had polarising reviews.

It is based on a memoir of the same name written by J. D. Vance which was published in 2016 and follows the story of Yale law student called Vance whose career dreams are ruined when he has to return to Ohio to help his family.

The blockbuster explores and reflects on Vance's Appalachian family history and stars Amy Adams.

6. Bring It On: All Or Nothing

The sequel to the original cult classic follows Brittany Allen, who has to make new friends when her wealthy family moves to a new town.

Combining the concept of cheerleading with other forms of dance, she finds her place with her new pals, only to face off against her previous school posse. Starring Hayden Panettiere and Solange Knowles, get your high kicks ready.

Definitely one to watch if you're a fan of Netflix's documentary series Cheer.

7. Marriage Story

Adam Driver and Scarlett Johanssen star as a stage director and his actor wife who go through the stages of marriage that aren't told.

The pair go through a gruelling divorce that pushes them and their personal extremes to the limit. 

The couples story of their marriage troubles is inspired by the director, writer and producer of the film.

Noah Baumbach based it on his divorce from actress Jennifer Jason Leigh as well as his parents divorce.

8. Erin Brockovich

Julia Roberts won her Best Actress Oscar for her star turn as the titular Erin, a real life single mother and legal secretary who fought against the energy corporation Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) regarding its culpability for the Hinkley groundwater contamination incident.

As with all her performances, Julia brings so much heart to the performance you root for her right from the beginning, while the fact the dramatisation is based on a true story is somewhat horrifying.

9. To The Bone 

After being diagnosed with anorexia (Lily Collins) she is put into a group home in order to recover.

With her relationships with her step mum and dad being strained, it becomes evidently more difficult to

10. The Two Popes

It's never a hardship to watch Anthony Hopkins on screen and the same can be said for Jonathan Pryce, let alone in a film which is pretty much a two-hander.

Anthony plays Pope Benedict XVI – conservative and doubt-ridden – who meets with his progressive yet reluctant successor, Cardinal Bergoglio, later Pope Francis.

Based on a play by screenwriter Anthony McCarten, the film was nominated for two Oscars.

Many feel like Adam Sandler was robbed of awards glory this year for his unrecognisable turn in Uncut Gems.

The funnyman plays it straight as a New York city jeweller who risks everything to get rid of his debts – and their collectors – once and for all.

Tensions run high in the Safdie brothers film, but you will certainly be rewarded for your commitment to the two hour film.

12.Roma

Roma is a semi-autobiographical film about a maid working for an upper-middle class family in Mexico City in the 1970's by Gravity director Alfonso Cuarón.

The film was lauded by critics as one of the best of 2018 and won three Oscars.

It follows housekeeper Cleo as she, and her family, face societal and political issues.

Roma is a visual delight, as well as being deeply moving.

13. Okja

When Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-Ho is at the helm, you know it's going to be a good movie, and that's certainly the case with Okja.
The filma follows a girl and her best friend, a huge, weird animal called Okja as they battle the CEO of a large company who want to take Okja away.
While the animal activism message does touch on preachy, it is still an enjoyable and heartwarming watch, so have the tissues ready.

14. Beasts of No Nation

Idris Elba plays one of his most sinister roles yet in this 2015 film as a commander of child soldiers in West Africa.
The Netflix film is based on the acclaimed novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala and follows a child called Agu, who is torn away from his family to fight in a civil war.
With strong, award-nominated performances, it is a hard watch at times, but an extraordinary one too.

15. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

If teen rom-coms are your favourite then this ticks every box. With newcomers Lana Condor and Noah Centineo in high school portraying a fake relationship, what could go wrong?

There's also a sequel to get stuck into if you're a fan of the first film.

16. Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga 

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is a 2020 American musical comedy film directed by David Dobkin and written by Will Ferrell and Andrew Steele.

It follows Icelandic singers Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdóttir as they attempt to win the legendary contest on behalf of the country.

Packed with hilarious lyrics and plenty of comedy moments, the lead actors bounce of each other to give a dazzling display of feel good fun, while their clear feelings for each other makes for a heartwarming romance too.

Meanwhile Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha are facing their own dilemma's with romance, families, children and pursuing dreams.

Emma Stone stars as the girl with The Scarlett Letter after faking having slept with half her school in order to help out a friend. The self proclaimed invisible girl makes a name for herself in a way that she didn't want to.

However, her open minded parents, her best friend and an unlikely ally in the form of the school mascot help her along. That is until the Christian gossip group throw a few problems her way. A funny story with a twist for those days you need to laugh.

24. After

Tessa Young (Josephine Langford) and  Hardin Scott (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) are two unlucky teens who fall in love.

With one dedicated to their college work, and the other who sees themselves as a bit of a bad boy, the pair surprise themselves when they develop feelings for one another.

However, their journey isn't plain sailing as Tessa finds out some hurtful things that Hardin has done to her… but will she forgive him?

25. Scott Pilgrim vs The World 

This film became something of a cult classic after its original release in 2010.

It follows the titular Scott (Michael Cera), who falls for delivery girl Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead).

However, Ramona has seven evil exes waiting in the wings to take Scott on, and he can only date her if he defeats them all in video game-style battles.

The film is full of fun and plenty of heart making it a romcom both women and men can enjoy.

Plus video game fans will love the nods to all manner of classic titles with its eye-popping special effects and music.

26. Pride and Prejudice 

The Jane Austen classic got another movie adaptation in 2005 starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen as Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy.

Elizabeth is headstrong while Mr Darcy is enigmatic and their hot and cold relationship is a riveting watch.

With an excellent cast and fantastic chemistry between Keira and Matthew, it's the perfect film romance that does justice to the original novel.

27. The Half of It

A humorous coming of age story about three teenagers in the US in the small town of Sqauhamish.

Shy, straight-A student Ellie (Leah Lewis) is hired by half of the student body to write their essays for them.

However, she’s enlisted to help inarticulate jock Paul (Daniel Diemer)  who needs help winning over popular girl Aster Flores (Alexxis Lemire) with love letters.

After initially denying his request she gives in, forming an unlikely friendship with him and even discovers that she has feelings for Aster.

28. The Notebook

For many, this is the ultimate romantic film, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams as a young couple who fall in love in the 1940s.

However, the path to happiness doesn't run smoothly, with Rachel's character Allie's family disapproving of the class difference between her and Noah.

The lovebirds face a number of hurdles over the next few years, while their romance is read from a Notebook in the present day by an old man to a female care home resident.

The resulting film is nothing short of a sob-fest, pulling at your heartstrings at every turn, so make sure you have tissues ready.

29. About Time

Rachel McAdams can do no wrong when it comes to romantic films, as she co-stars in this 2013 film with Domhnall Gleeson.

About Time combines romance with time travel, as Domhnall learns from his father that all the men in their family can jump to different time periods.

This comes in handy when he meets Rachel's character but the initial hilarity of the film soon grows into something deeper, as much about father-son relationships as it is romantic ones.

30. Kal Ho Naa Ho (Tomorrow May Never Come) 

The romantic comedy drama follows a young, pessimistic student whose widowed mother tries finding her a husband.

The student falls in love with her neighbour, who unknown to her is terminally ill.

In a bid to make her fall out of love with him, he sets his friend up with someone else. 

The film language is originally in Hindi, with English subtitles.

This heart-pounding thriller by director Mike Flanagan follows the story of a deaf woman living alone in the woods.

Secluded and existing in a silent world, this young woman has to fight her way to safety after a psychotic killer appears outside her window. With no one around for miles, it proves to be a bloody battle for survival.

If you're not good with gore then we suggest swerving this as it doesn't hold back with its grisly battle sequences.

32. A Quiet Place

For the chatterboxes who don't know when to stop, what would you do if you had to keep your lips shut or risk dying?

This spine-chilling thriller shows the lengths that parents Emily Blunt and John Krasinski go to when making any sounds threatens their survival in an Earth invaded by aliens. If they hear you, they hunt you.

If you're a fan of the film, keep an eye out for the sequel, expected to drop mid-2021.

33. Army of the Dead

This zombie heist film by Zack Snyder stars Dave Bautista, Omari Hardwick and Ella Purnell.

It is set in Las Vegas after a zombie outbreak and follows a group of mercenaries who have been tasked with carrying out the greatest heist ever – within the quarantine zone.

As you might expect, things don't go according to plan, but it makes for a fun watch with plenty of action to keep you entertained.

34. Birdbox

Sandra Bullock stars as a mum who tries to protect her two children against all odds.

The world is thrown into chaos with this post-apocalyptic thriller film, which sees sight prove to be humanity's biggest threat.

A mysterious force possesses its victims and drives them to either take their own lives, or the lives of others.

The film is set to get a sequel on the streamer, but a release date remains unconfirmed.

35. Orphan

A spine-chilling horror that's guaranteed to serve jump scares and take the viewer through a world of confusion.

After the loss of their unborn child, Kate and John decide to look past their crumbling marriage and adopt a child.

Going to the local orphanage they stumble upon a young lady named Esther.

However, all is not as it seems when she arrives and an alarming series of events start to unfold.

Kate notices and tries to save her family before it's too late, with limited success…

36. His House

Despite only being on the streaming service since October, this blockbuster has been extremely popular with horror fans.

It follows the story of a refugee couple, Bol (Sope Dirisu) and Rial (Wunmi Mosaku) who flee from South Sudan to the UK.

On the way they loose their daughter Nyagak and things get much worse when they move into their new home in London.

They soon realise that something isn't quite right with their house…

The jump scares come thick and fast, so if you're not good with tension, you might want to swerve this one.

37. Shaun of the Dead

Simon Pegg stars in this comedy horror which he also wrote alongside director Edgar Wright.

It follows Shaun and his friend Ed, played by Nick Frost, as they are initially unaware of a zombie outbreak.

Once realisation dawns on them, they attempt to seek refuge in their local pub with their loved ones, with varying degrees of success.

Funny and with plenty of blood, it's a must for comedy horror fans.

38. Gone Girl 

There are many unexpected twists and turns, this story about the secrets of modern marriage will have you at the edge of your seat.

On his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) reports his wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike) missing. Police question his erratic behaviour as a media frenzy grows and has everyone asking the same question: Did he kill his wife?

39. 47 Metres Down: Uncaged

Four teenage girls decide they want to explore an underwater Mayan city.

40. IT (2017)

Based off os Stephen King's best selling novel of the same name.

IT is the clown that has been terrifying children in the town of Derry, Maine.

IT only appears to children and reels them in by talking to them, making himself seem like the perfect 'friend'.

In 1989, a group of high school kids decide they want to solve the mystery of the missing children only to find the mystery stemming back centuries.

The brave high school group have to remember one thing: IT feeds off their fear.

Fan of the film? The equally terrifying sequel dropped in 2020 and is also available to stream.

41. Shutter Island 

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorcese team up once again for this adaptation of the novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane.

Set in 1954 as World War II veteran and federal marshal Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio) and his new partner Chuck (Mark Ruffalo) jump on a ferry to Shutter Island.

The water-bound mental hospital houses the criminally insane and they need to investigate the disappearance of Rachel Solando (Emily Mortimer).

The convict was admitted after she murdered her three children, however there’s many secrets to unravel on this spooky island.

Mystery and intrigue, that will leave viewers shocked with unexpected twists.

42. Primal Fear

Richard Gere plays a hotshot lawyer chasing fame as well as justice in this classic 1996 film.

The tension ramps up when Mr Gere takes on a high-profile case of a bewildered altar boy accused of murdering an archbishop.

This thriller has it all, including a shock ending, and earned Edward Norton an Oscar nomination for his turn as the altar boy.

43.Hereditary

This 2018 supernatural horror stars Australian actress Toni Collette as a woman called Annie, whose family is haunted by a mysterious presence following the death of her mother.

Annie and her daughter both turn to the supernatural to help deal with their grief.

However, they each begin to have disturbing, otherworldly experiences linked to the sinister secrets and emotional trauma that has been in their family for generations.

Expect gore, jump scares and a whole lot of creeping dread.

44. Spirited Away

Studio Ghibli made up a part of everyone's childhood and Spirited Away is a standout success.

The Oscar-winning production follows Chihiro, who is led to a mysterious town where her parents turn into pigs after eating the local food.

On a mission to find her parents once they go missing and adamant to find her way home, Chihiro befriends Haiku in this mystical tale.

Set in Japan, the original language is Japanese but there's both English dubbing and subtitles available.

If you're new to anime, Spirited Away is a great place to start and will likely get you addicted to the genre.

45.The Mitchells vs. The Machines 

This animated film follows Katie Mitchell and her family as they embark on a road trip ahead of her first year at film school.

However, their plans are interrupted when all the world's electronic devices come to life and stage an uprising.

It's up to Katie, her family and two friendly robots to save the planet.

46. Shrek

One of the best animations to grace screens and it even won an Academy Award. 

Once Upon a Time in a far away swamp, lived on Ogre named Shrek. 

His peaceful solace is interrupted when a herd of fairytale characters descend on his swamp claiming they have nowhere to go.

When he asks who sent them there, they state the evil Lord Farquaad had banished them.

With determination and an irritating donkey, Shrek goes to Lord Farquaad to make a deal to get his swamp back.

What he didn’t know was that entailed saving a princess from a tower guarded by a dragon.

Studio Ghibli is the gift that keeps on giving with this family friendly, heartwarming animation.

Two girls find that their country home is in the middle of a mystical forest inhabited by fascinating mythical creatures.

They befriend Totoro, the king of the forest as well as the biggest and eldest of the mystical land.

Whilst their mother is sick in hospital, the girls are taken on an adventure where they begin to understand the realities of life.

48. Corpse Bride

The 2005 Tim Burton film follows the love story of Victor Van Dort and Victoria Everglot – who were paired together for an arranged marriage.

At their wedding rehearsals the son of nouveau riche fish merchants got extremely nervous in front of his new wife and forgot all of his vows.

He decided to run off to a forest to practice them – but without knowing he married himself off to a dead woman underground who wants to keep him for herself.

Expect the usual Tim Burton blend of spookiness and wit.

Family friendly animation about the son of a Viking Chief who is trying to live up to his father's expectations of him.

Wanting to mark his passage into manhood is harder as he isn’t built like the rest of the viking’s on the island.

However, when a rare breed of dragon lands on the island, injured and in need of a trainer, his luck begins to change.

How To Train Your Dragon also has two sequels, so if you're a fan of the original you're in luck.

When in need of a good laugh, look no further than this James Bond-esque spoof.

Melissa McCarthy is desk-bound CIA analyst who is sent into the field on dangerous missions. This musical comedy, which was released on Netflix in December 2020, is one of the best feel good films to watch on a cold winters day wrapped up in your duvet.

It follows the story of two New York City stage performers called Dee Dee Allen (Meryl Steep) and Barry Glickman (James Corden) who get into a bit of bother when their latest show turns into a flop.

When the pair find out that a high school student called Emma Nolan is experiencing difficulties trying to let her school let her take her girlfriend to prom, they see it as the perfect opportunity to help them get back in everybody's good books.

Real life brothers James and Dave Franco star in this 2017 comedy which looks at the making of Tommy Wiseau’s cult film The Room.
The Room was so bad it has become a cult classic, with James playing the enigmatic Wiseau while Dave is Greg Sestero, a fledgling actor who meets Wiseau at an acting class before he whisks him off to Hollywood.
While the film, which is based on Wiseau's memoirs doesn't shy away from his demons, it has some real laugh out loud moments.

Colin Firth stars as a spy belonging to a super-secret elite organisation that recruits a promising candidate.

The candidate in question is the son of a former, deceased member of the organisation.

After getting into legal trouble, Eggsy (Taron Egerton) is called up by Harry (Colin Firth) and has to compete against the most competitive recruits in order to earn his place at Kingsman.

Based upon the acclaimed comic book of the same name.

An action comedy with dirty coppers, snooping wives and a bachelor who refuses to settle down.

George Clooney and Brad Pitt can still leave fans swooning when they pull off a bank heist.

They band together a group of ex-cons to rob 150 million dollars from an underground vault that serves three of Las Vegas' biggest casinos. Teaming up with nine other men, the criminal specialists co-ordinate a heist to end all heists.

64. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle 

Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black team up to get themselves out of a game that they found in their high school basement.

The highly successful reboot of the classic is family friendly and gives guaranteed laughs as the four try to make sure they aren't stuck in the game forever. Also starring Nick Jonas.

Jumanji has since released a video game-themed sequel Next Level.

65. Divergent 

The thrilling action-adventure is set in a dystopian world where people are divided into district factions based on human virtues.

Battling through the system and finding out information about the higher ups on her terms, Tris (Shailene Woodley) enlists the help of her faction in order to uncover the conspiracies that their leader (Kate Winslet) is hiding. Also starring Theo James.

If you like the original, there are also sequels Insurgent and Allegiant.

66. Now You See Me

Brace yourselves for some mystifying magic tricks, as The Four Horseman try to outwit an elite FBI squad that wants to take down the super-team of illusionists.

The Four Horseman pull off a series of elaborate stunts, starting with draining a bank of all its money and Mark Ruffalo leads an FBI task force to find out how.

But all is not what it seems, so keep an eye out for a twist of epic proportions.

Morgan Freeman, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco pull off some spectacular stunts in this blockbuster.

67. Maze Runner 

A dystopian tale of a boy who is deposited into a maze where a community of boys currently live.

He has no memory of how he got there, discovering later that it has been erased.

68. Justice League 

DC brings their version of The Avengers to life, with this dark epic that brings the world's finest superheroes together.

Wonderwoman, Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg all fight to save the world from a catastrophic end.

Bruce Wayne, played by Ben Affleck, brings together the superheroes after Superman's selfless act that restored faith in humanity.

Justice League was recently re-released with an extended edit The Snyder Cut.

Also starring Jason Mamoa, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams and Ezra Miller.

69. Extraction

Thor actor Chris Hemsworth swaps the Avengers for the black markets to play a mercenary called Tyler Rake, who is tasked with rescuing the kidnapped son of a drug lord in Bangladesh.

With a former superhero as the lead, there needed to be plenty of action and Extraction certainly delivers and has proved to be one of Netflix's most popular releases so far this year.

A sequel is already in the works.

70. Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman had a long wait for her very own standalone movie, but damn it was worth it.
Gal Gadot plays the heroine, who saves Chris Pine's Steve Trevor when his plane crashes on the shores of her secret Amazonian island.
The warrior princess soon learns about World War I and sets out to save the human race with Steve's help.
As well as some seriously good action sequences and great chemistry between Gal and Chris, there are some funny moments which are sometimes lacking in other DC Universe films.

Years of monotonous work and a loveless marriage turns a once vibrant man into a shell of his former self.

In this multi-generational drama, a Taiwanese factory worker leaves his homeland to seek opportunity in America, where he struggles to find connection while balancing family and newfound responsibilities.

Tigertail effortlessly goes back and forth between the present and the past which has helped to create painful comparisons between Pin-Jui's hopes as a young man and the disappointments and hardships of the years following.

74. Law Abiding Citizen

This 2009 film stars Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx and tells the story of a man driven to seek justice after his family are killed.

The man, played by Gerard, also targets those who have supported a corrupt criminal justice system, intending to assassinate anyone associated with it.

Jamie plays prosecuting attorney Nick Rice, who tries to figure out how Gerard's character is carrying out all the assassinations while behind bars, making for a gripping watch full of twists and turns.

75. The Wolf of Wall Street

Leonardo DiCaprio received one of his many Oscar nominations for his turn as stockbroker Jordan Belfort.

Based on Jordan's memoirs, the Martin Scorsese film also stars Jonah Hill and follows Jordan's company Stratton Oakmont as it engaged in rampant corruption and fraud on Wall Street, which ultimately led to his downfall.

Leonardo is at his charming best in the role, while also showing off his Jim Carrey-esque skills in one memorable drug-addled scene.

76. The Green Mile

Tom Hanks plays a death row officer in the 1930s in this hard-hitting drama from 1999.

His character forms an unlikely friendship with condemned black prisoner John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), who has been sentenced to death for murdering two little girls.

The Green Mile is adapted from Stephen King's 1996 novel of the same name, and features a supernatural twist alongside some real tear-jerking moments.

Both Tom and the late Michael put in stellar performances that will leave more than one tear in your eye.

Jim Carrey plays an insurance salesman called Truman Burbank who is oblivious to the fact that he's the star of his very own show.

The funnyman plays it relatively straight in this "psychological science fiction comedy-drama", with his character failing to realise actors are playing his family and friends.

It also stars Laura Linney, Holland Taylor and Ed Harris.

78. I,Tonya

Tonya Harding's biopic shows her tumultuous rise to the top and her subsequent fall.

Margot Robbie plays Tonya, who is fighting for her place on the ice to make her name as the world's best figure skater.

Shot in a documentary format, it shows the abuse Tonya faced at the hands of her husband and mother.

It also tracks her infamous FBI case after one of the most sensational scandals in sports history.

The cast also includes Sebastian Stan and a scene-stealing performance from Allison Janney.

79. El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

Breaking Bad has been billed as one of the best TV series of all time, so a movie spin-off had big shoes to fill.

Thankfully El Camino delivers, following Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman after his escape from captivity in the series finale.

A number of old faces pop back up to please hardcore fans, while there are plenty of twists, turns and drama to fill the gap left by the acclaimed crime series.

Jake Gyllenhaal stars in 2013 thriller Prisoners alongside Hugh Jackman.

Described as ‘one of the most intense thrillers in recent years’, the plot kicks off when two young girls suddenly go missing outside their home.

Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal plays an erratic, obsessive cop who is becoming increasingly frustrated at the crumbling investigation.

This 1998 crime drama stars Jeff Bridges as avid bowler Jeff 'The Dude' Lebowski in Los Angeles who is assaulted in a case of mistaken identity.

He learns that millionaire Jeffrey Lebowski was the intended victim and when the rich man's trophy wife is kidnapped, he tasks The Dude with delivering the ransom money.

However, the plan goes awry when The Dude's friend Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) plots to keep the ransom money.

The cast also includes Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Steve Buscemi.

Spike Lee's 2018 film tells the extraordinary story of Ron Stallworth, the black police officer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in 1972 with the assistance of Jewish cop Flip Zimmerman.

83. The Imitation Game

Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his turn as real life genius Alan Turing.

Alan decrypted German intelligence messages for the British government during the Second World War and helped develop a machine that eventually cracked the enemy's Enigma code.

Aside from his professional successes, The Imitiation Game also offers a glimpse into Alan's personal life as a gay man, producing some emotional scenes in the process.

84. Groundhog Day

Ghostbusters co-stars Bill Murray and Harold Ramis joined forces once again for this 1993 classic, only this time Harold remained behind the camera as the director and writer.

The storyline follows Bill's character, cynical TV weatherman Phil Connors, who becomes trapped in a time loop and forced to relive February 2 repeatedly.

The film also stars Andie MacDowell and Chris Elliott, and while Bill and Harold clashed off camera over creative differences, the finished result offers plenty of laughs which you won't mind watching again, and again…

85. No Country for Old Men

This 2007 film starring Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem went on to win four Oscars, including Best Picture.

The Coen Brothers also won Best Director for the thriller, which follows Llewellyn Moss (Brolin) as he makes off with a case of cash and is pursued by psychopathic killer Anton Chigurh (Bardem) who wants the money back.

Anton leaves a trail of bodies in his wake, bringing Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Lee Jones) to the case, with both men trying to get to Llewellyn first.

This 2009 film by Quentin Tarantino has a stellar cast including Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender and Diane Kruger.

It tells an alternate history about two plots to assassinate Nazi Germany's leadership, one lead by Lt. Aldo Raine (Pitt).

Raine and his men join forces with Bridget von Hammersmark, a German actress and undercover agent, to bring down the leaders of the Third Reich.

90. Jaws

An absolute classic in the horror/thriller genre, Jaws follows a man-eating great white shark who attacks beachgoers at a summer resort town.

Police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) wants to close the beaches, but he is overruled by mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) who fears the loss of tourist revenue could cripple the town.

Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, leading the trio to a battle of man vs. nature.

91. Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds is the Merc with a Mouth in this hilarious and un-PC superhero movie which is part of the X-Men world.
The odd ball definitely isn't your typical hero despite his super strength and swears like a trooper throughout.
Deadpool is Ryan's passion project and he really cuts loose on screen, verbally and physically with some great action sequences and plenty of bloodshed.
At the heart of it lies a love story but again, it's unconventional, as is Deadpool's regular breaking of the fourth wall as he mocks the superhero and comic book genres he is part of.

92. Venom

This 2018 film sees Tom Hardy play journalist Eddie Brock, who gains superpowers after being bound to an alien whose species plans to invade Earth.
Michelle Williams co-stars as Eddie's fiancee, who is horrified when he goes behind her back and reads a classified document in her possession which ends up leading him to Venom and them both to lose their jobs.
Despite being known for his more serious roles, Tom is able to play the comedic moments in the film with ease, although the movie is much darker than a typical comic-based flick.

93. Da 5 Bloods

This Spike Lee sees four Vietnam war veterans as they return to the country in the present day, searching for the body of their ex commander and the treasure he left behind.

On what is a very emotional journey, they have to deal with the traumatic memories of the horrific violence and the men they became as a result.

The movie also explores broader themes concerning the experiences of black people in the United States.

Delroy Lindo (The Good Fight), Clarke Peters (The Wire), Norm Lewis (Scandal), Isiah Whitlock Jr (BlacKkKlansman) and the late Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) play the original Bloods, with Jonathan Majors representing the next generation.

This film is based on the life of former WWE superstar Paige.

This 2015 movie saw Brie Larson win the Academy Award for Best Actress after portraying a young woman who is held captive in a room with her five-year-old son.

The connection between Brie and her young co-star Jacob Tremblay is powerful and moving, as the mother and son plot a daring escape.

But their struggle isn't over once they escape their captor, as integrating back into society after their harrowing ordeal brings challenges of its own.

96. The Trial of the Chicago 7

This film was due to be released in cinemas but the coronavirus pandemic and its knock on effects means Netflix has picked it up instead.

It boasts a stellar cast including Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton and Eddie Redmayne and follows the 1969 trial of seven anti-Vietnam War protestors who were charged with conspiracy and crossing state lines with the intention of inciting riots.

Comedian Sacha takes on one of his grittiest roles to date as American political and social activist, Abbie Hoffman, an anarchist who was a big name in the Flower Power movement in the late 1960s.

Despite its 1960s setting, the message the film is pushing is still extremely relevant today and is handled brilliantly by acclaimed screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, who previously worked on The West Wing and The Social Network.

97. The Social Network

As mentioned above, Aaron Sorkin was the brains behind this hit 2010 film which documented the early years of Facebook and its creator, Mark Zuckerberg.

Jesse Eisenberg plays Mark, who created a site that took his college campus by storm – and then the world.

Other standout performances come from Andrew Garfield as Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin as well as Justin Timberlake and Armie Hammer as twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.

98. The Boys in the Band

Glee, American Horror Story and Ratched supremo Ryan Murphy has adapted the acclaimed Broadway play into a new film.

The cast are all members of the LGBTQ community including former The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto and Matt Bomer.

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown plays the titular Enola, the younger sister of famous detective Sherlock Holmes in the Netflix film.

Enola sets out to find her mother (Helena) after she disappears on the morning of her 16th birthday.

This fantasy film follows a group of immortal warriors who have been fighting covert wars on the human race's behalf for hundreds of years.

However, modern day technology means it's harder for them to cover their tracks and soon, a ruthless businessman is on their tails.

Charlize Theron leads the cast in this entertaining action film and she really gets to flex her muscles.
