Spirit Airlines passengers scream in terror as a BAT flies through the plane cabin at 37,000ft – The Sun

PASSENGERS travelling with Spirit Airlines were left screaming in terror after a bat was caught flying through the cabin mid-flight.

The bat was spotted 30 minutes after the flight took off.

Twitter user Peter Scattini tweeted a video of the bat with the caption: "There is deadass a bat on this Spirit Airline."

He joked: "Me, twice a year: 'I'll never fly Spirit again.'

"Me, this morning, after deciding I'd rather save 12 dollars."

In the video, the bat flies down the middle of the cabin while a child screams in shock.

A woman then says "oh my god," repeated by other passengers.

Another passenger asks: "It's not a bat is it?" while a young girl hides in the toilet and looks out in shock.

Peter added: "I also want to make clear that this bat appeared WHILE WE WERE 30 MINUTES INTO OUR FLIGHT.

"Where it came from? No idea."

The bat was eventually subdued so the rest of the flight could continue bat-free.

He explained: "Eventually someone trapped it between a book & a cup and then locked it in one of the restrooms for the remainder of the trip."

Other social media users joked about the link to the name of the airline: "I mean…the airline is named 'Spirit'," to which Peter replied it was a bit "too on brand" for his like.

One person joked: "Could be worse. Could be snakes."

Another bat video quickly went viral on social media after it was caught flying around the home of an Irish family, leading to the son yelling "catch him" and swearing from the sidelines.

After claiming the bat was "mocking him" and the dog began weeing on the floor, the dad eventually caught it in a tea towel before releasing it outside.

It isn't the only odd creature to have been spotted on a plane.

A terrified passenger spotted a large scorpion crawling through the overhead lockers during a Lion Air flight from Indonesia.

Some travellers have had positive experiences with animals during a flight, with many sharing images of cute cats and dogs on their plane.
