This beer garden is plane amazing.
Welcome to The Airport Pub, which has a spacious pub garden that lies just 50ft (15m) from the end of Manchester Airport’s Terminal 3 runway, making it a hotspot for aviation enthusiasts.
And it’s home to an outdoor bar appropriately titled ‘The Hangar’.
‘Come to enjoy the spectacle and excitement of our view as it’s the closest you can get to a plane without boarding it in the UK,’ the pub’s website reveals.
TikTok user Jenna Goodwin shared a video tour of the Mancunian pub garden earlier this year, noting: ‘There [aren’t] many pubs where you can watch jumbo jets literally flying at the end of the beer garden.’ Goodwin, who says she has been going to the pub for several years, adds that it’s a ‘little bit of a hidden gem’.

She says that the planes flying overhead can be ‘quite loud’ but plane-spotters ‘love it’, adding: ‘It’s also really fun on a windy day – if you wrap up warm, you can see [the planes] wobbling as they come in.’
In the clip, she shows how there’s a TV screen inside displaying a live aeroplane tracker that monitors the inbound and outbound flights.
The interior decor carries on the aviation theme, with retro ‘spitfire’ armchairs and circular booths that mimic the shape of jet engines.
Alongside spirits and cocktails, the pub’s website says it offers a menu of ‘high-flying food’, with dishes such as cheeseburgers and nachos on offer. The kids’ menu is said to be for ‘little aviators’. Not only that, but there’s an outdoor play area to keep kids entertained throughout the day.
Goodwin notes: ‘If you’re going on holiday and you’re leaving from Manchester Airport, I would definitely recommend going to this pub instead of eating in the terminal.’

Costly car parking fees in the pub’s car park have been implemented to deter holidaymakers from leaving their cars in the parking spaces when they go abroad
The pub has racked up a lot of positive reviews from aviation buffs on Tripadvisor, with reviewer ‘hjp79’ writing: ‘You can almost touch the planes as they take off and land because the fence at the bottom of the garden is literally a few metres away from the tarmac of the runway.’
And reviewer ‘Lottiepug17’ wrote: ‘Seeing the planes so close was amazing.’
While ‘hannahw504’ said that it’s a ‘prime spot for plane spotting’.
One drawback, however, is the parking fees – customers have pointed out that they’re relatively pricey, with the costly fees in place to deter holidaymakers from leaving their cars in the parking spaces when they go abroad. It costs £5.40 to park at the pub for up to three hours.
