British kids reveal the simple things that make a holiday special

Family holidays are meant to be all about resting, relaxing and spending quality time together but sometimes it's easy to get wrapped up in planning that postcard-worthy trip.

But actually, it turns out that for children the excitement doesn't come from amazing hotels, beautiful scenery or epic water parks (although these are, of course, always bonuses).

In fact, it's actually the simple things that make holidays so special.

Holiday parks firm Parkdean Resorts decided to find out from children themselves, asking kids to share their favourite things about holidays.

They revealed some of the responses in an adorable video where a group of British children revealed their highlights.

They're all such simple pleasures; spending time with their family and friends, eating ice cream, visiting the beach, playing in the park or with toys were some of their top highlights.

Meanwhile, the research also revealed the top holiday highlight for children – and it's not going to be a surprise for parents.

In fact, kids' top holiday highlight? Forgetting pesky bedtimes and getting to stay up later than usual!

Steve Richards, chief executive at Parkdean Resorts, said: "We wanted to chat to our younger guests to find out what they really love about going on holiday.

"Their responses were surprising as it seems it’s the little things that count the most.

"With another warm summer on the cards we’re inviting families to visit Parkdean Resorts to enjoy some family time, get outdoors and ultimately create amazing memories together."

Parkdean Resorts has plenty of holiday parks across the UK including Scotland, Wales and Northumberland if you do want to book a last-minute staycation.

Prices start from £239 per family for a three-night break and £389 per family for a seven-night break.
