Google TV: Brand new streaming platform introduced in preview
YouTube has gone down, with the video site failing to load at all. Users across the world are seeing a message reading “oops”, accompanied with a note reading: “Something went wrong.” The outage appears to affect a number of different sites in addition to YouTube.
Why is YouTube down?
YouTube is down because all of Google’s services appear to be down.
Gmail, Google Drive and the tech giant’s other websites have also been experiencing issues.
However, the Google search page works as normal.
This is the second time this year Google has been hit with a significant outage.

The search engine was also down in August, with YouTube affected then as well.
And its products, including Google Suite and Gmail, experienced a similar outage last month in November.
The company maintains a statues page for its online services like Gmail, but that doesn’t track or give information about outages on YouTube.
Google being down has affected people in countries all over the world, from Canada to Europe, according to tracking website Down Detector.
Of people who reported issues with YouTube, 54 percent said they couldn’t access the website, 42 percent couldn’t watch videos and three percent of users were unable to log in.
Several people took to Twitter to ask what’s going on.
One user wrote: “Gmail, Google Drive and YouTube all being down at once is… really not supposed to happen. Something has gone very wrong at Google towers.”
Another said: “The day came. When you can’t even google what happened with google. It’s still 2020. #GoogleDown.”
In addition to affecting YouTube and Gmail, the outage also appears to be having implications for Google Nest Security Cameras.
One user tweeted: “Google Nest it’s times like this you should offer local storage on Nest Camera. All security is gone…”
Another said: “I have no control over my smart devices. My home is all next and Google and it’s all been down.
“No lights, wifi, cameras, etc. This is not convenient.”
