You can now throw a party under the sea on a yellow submarine – with 120 pals

Your Bond villain dreams might finally come true, thanks to a new submarine which lets you party for up to 24 hours beneath the waves.

The 'Under Water Entertainment Platform', or UWEP, is a self-driving autonomous submarine designed for big events and parties under the sea.

The vessel, which can fit up to 120 people, can be customised to fit a restaurant, a casino, a wedding venue, a concert, or any event possible.

The rechargeable UWEP drives itself using AI and runs on electric batteries. It has huge windows illuminated by special lights so you can enjoy all of the sights of the deep.

The submarine can travel up to 200 metres underwater, the so-called 'sunlight zone' of the ocean where many plants, animals and geographical features are still visible thanks to light from above.

Just like a cruise ship, guests will be able to walk freely around the ship, which docks at floating ports between trips.

Although still in its planning stages, the company behind the UWEP, U-Boat Worx, is looking for a suitable start-up location and seeking funding. The company is still yet to put a price tag on its deep sea trips.

Bert Houtman, CEO said, “The UWEP will shake up both the submarine and hospitality industry and lead the way in bespoke underwater events.

"We will not only present a stellar experience for the most discerning clientele, but also a business opportunity that will benefit entrepreneurs and contribute to our understanding of the oceans."

Just as space tourism becomes more popular, underwater tourism is also on the rise. The first underwater hotel, the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, first opened in 2018.

More recently, the world's deepest swimming pool opened in Dubai. 'Deep Dive Dubai' lets divers explore abandoned streets, arcades and other areas deep underwater.
