Addressing more than 250 men and women at an event hosted by Core Media, Ms Sandberg also addressed the backlash against her book ‘Lean In’.

Facebook’s second most senior global executive also addressed the recent controversies engulfing the social media giant including privacy breaches, hate speech and Russian influence in the 2016 US presidential campaign.

“No matter what criticism we get as individuals, no matter what criticism we get as a movement … we have to believe that we take responsibility for our mistakes and fix them, but that we can and do make it better,” she said.
