Windows 10 is Microsoft’s computer platform that receives two substantial upgrades each year that introduce a range of new features and improvements for users.
In-between the debut of hefty Windows 10 updates, fans are able to sign up to Microsoft’s Insider Programme that grants early versions of new software, providing an insight into forthcoming features.
The latest of which is build 18922 that released on June 19.
Shortly after its debut, a Twitter account by the name of Albacore discovered a new user interface that appeared to be in development for Microsoft’s virtual assistant, Cortana.
It was noted the new design appeared to be incredibly similar to how Cortana can be accessed on mobile devices.
The helper was shown to be summonable via a messenger-style format either by typing or using voice commands.
Microsoft’s assistant is capable of showing weather forecasts, putting events into a user’s calendar and more.
Overall, the new update for Cortana appears to make it simpler and more intuitive to use than before.
The inclusion of the refreshed functionality in a new build of Windows 10 suggests it could arrive for all users later down the line.
Cortana was previously bundled in with Windows 10’s search bar but was separated in the recent May 2019 Update.
At the time, the Redmond-based tech giant declared such a decision had been taken to allow Cortana and search to “innovate independently”.
Microsoft went on: “Going forward, we’ll be decoupling Search and Cortana in the taskbar.
“This will enable each experience to innovate independently to best serve their target audiences and use cases.”
Earlier this year Microsoft revealed Cortana is used by over 150 million people across 13 countries, via Windows Latest.
The announcement was made by the American firm at its Windows Insider Dev Tour and marked commendable growth for the virtual assistant.
