WhatsApp is finally coming to the iPad and it's great news for Apple fans

It’s hard to believe, but there’s not yet a version of WhatsApp that’s specifically designed for the iPad.

But that’s about to change because a tablet-friendly version of the wildly popular messaging app is set to be unleashed very soon.

Currently, you can’t use WhatsApp on an iPad whatsoever.

And if you visit the App Store, you’ll only be able to download an iPhone version of the software.

According to the ever-reliable feature-hounds at WABetaInfo, the iPad app is currently under development, although the release date is not yet known.

The app will feature all the familiar functionality in a more streamlined form.

So, for instance, whilst you’re reading a message you’ll be able to see a list of all the messages in your inbox rather than having to flick to a different screen.

This is called a split view and takes advantage of the larger screen on an iPad.

The bigger display is particularly useful in landscape mode and the app will stretch to fill the entire screen.

On the iPad, users can also type on a keyboard which is less cramped, making messaging a bit easier and more accurate.

Thankfully, you will not be able to use the Camera feature in WhatsApp for iPad, which should stop people trying to use their tablet to broadcast snaps or footage of gigs to their friends.
