Twitter trick lets you mute all mentions of Brexit from your feed

Tomorrow, the moment that many Brits have been dreading will finally be here, as the UK will leave the EU.

With Brexit finally happening tomorrow, it’s likely your Twitter feed as crammed full of news, options, GIFs and memes about the big day.

If it’s all getting a bit much, thankfully there’s an easy way to mute all mentions of Brexit from your feed.

Dara Nasr, Managing Director at Twitter UK, explained: “Brexit is a huge moment for the whole of Europe, but no need for it to dominate your feed if you’d prefer it not to.

“Twitter is committed to enabling users to join the conversations they want through features such as Muting, Topics and Lists.”

Here’s a step-by-step guide to make sure you Twitter feed is a Brexit-free zone this week.

1. Tap on your avatar in the top left corner of the app

2. Tap Settings and privacy

3. Tap Privacy and safety

4. Scroll down to the Safety section and tap on ‘Muted'

5. You can then customise which accounts / keywords you want to temporarily hide from your timeline and mentions (e.g "#Brexit, Brexit, @BorisJohnson)
