Sky launched its VIP membership scheme back in August 2017 which subscribers a number of rewards based on the amount of time they’d been with the company. The longer you’ve been a customer, the better the rewards become. Sky offers free movie rentals, tickets to live sport fixtures, discounts on accessories like the Sky Soundbox, as well as money-can’t-buy experiences like access to red carpet film premieres or behind-the-scenes tours.
And now some Sky VIP members have noticed that UK broadcaster is offering up a free remote control.
Sky revealed its redesigned Sky Q voice remote last year. Unlike the original design, which shipped with the first batch of Sky Q set-top boxes, the microphone button was relocated from the side of the remote to the middle. The new design seems to be an acknowledgement that customers are relying on voice commands more and more often.
Sky usually charges £29.99 for its Sky Q voice remote when bought from its Sky Store. So, it’s a pretty generous deal. And with more and more of us staying home – despite the glorious weather – due to the ongoing public health crisis, a brand-new remote to be able to return to the boxset you’re bingeing, search for a movie much faster than before is handy.
“We love giving our Sky VIPs special treats. With our latest voice remote it’s easier to find the stuff you love. Just say the word and Sky Q will find it for you. Say hello to the brand-new Sky Q voice remote, just for you, on us” Sky states in an email sent to select Sky VIP customers.
Sky has confirmed to Express.co.uk that the offer is available to some VIP customers. However, it’s quite a limited promotion in scale. So, if you haven’t had the email yet, then unfortunately, you’re not one of the lucky ones – so don’t bother pestering any of the teams at Sky.
Thankfully, there are some promotions that you will definitely be able to take advantage of.
Sky is offering all Sky VIP customers access to the recent Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle blockbuster to watch this weekend. All you need to do is head Sky Store on your Sky Q box and the HD digital Buy & Keep movie priced at £0.00 will be waiting. Leaving plenty more money for popcorn ready for movie night. The offer is only available until July 1, 2020. If you’re new to Sky VIP, you’ll need to allow for 4 days before joining for the movie to be available – so better download the My Sky smartphone app pretty soon.
And that’s not all, Sky VIPs can be in with a chance to win a night-in with Anthony Joshua – allowing all Sky VIP customers the potential to get closer to the two-time heavyweight World Champion. Customers will be able to tune in on July 23, 2020 at 7.30pm for a virtual event that Sky says will “pack a punch” as Sky Sports’ Adam Smith hosts this exclusive Q&A session with Joshua. Customers can head to ‘Exclusive Prizes’ in the My Sky app before July 7, 2020 to enter.

As always, Sky VIP rewards depends on the amount of time you’ve been a Sky customer. So, there’s no guarantee that you’ll be eligible for the latest upgrade.
And if you’ve only recently signed-up to Sky Q, there’s no need to be jealous. Sky now ships the Sky Q voice remote as standard in the box with your set-top. Although, of course, it’s always handy to have a spare ready and waiting for when you lose one down the back of the sofa.
