Refrigerators that 'save' food

Food wastage is a hot topic these days.

About 763 million kilograms of food waste was generated in Singapore in 2018, according to the website Towards Zero Waste Singapore (www.towardszerowaste.sg).

Much of it was “avoidable food waste” – food items that could have been consumed had they been better managed, such as leftovers, stale food and blemished fruit and vegetables.

For consumers, this problem can be reduced by buying only what is needed and by adopting better food storage practices.

This is where Panasonic’s NR-F654GT, NR-F603GT and NR-F503GT refrigerators can help.

To start, vegetables stay fresh longer in them, with the double moisture control filters in the vegetable compartments keeping humidity in check.

Nutrients are better retained with Panasonic’s nanoeTM X technology that uses ion particles to retain moisture and nutrient levels, as well as deodorise the refrigerator.

Another feature – Ag Clean – keeps air clean and deactivates mould and bacteria, with an active enzyme that resolves unpleasant odours.

The PrimeFresh Freezing feature promises seven-day freshness for meat and fish, as well as cooked food.

It does so by soft-freezing items at -3 deg C, which retains nutrients and the good taste of food.

Unlike regular freezing, soft freezing does not damage cells, so there is less drip, while nutrients and flavours last longer.

Another benefit: home owners save time and avoid the hassle as there is no drip defrosting.

Food is easy to cut and slice, shortening the cooking process as there is no need to defrost the food.

To top it off, the three refrigerators’ seven kinds of sensors also help users save money as their Econavi technology can detect energy wastage.
