PlayStation's big end of year system seller Death Stranding is now available to buy on PS4, but having already forked out your hard-earned cash, it's nice to get something back.
And right now, that's exactly what you can do.
Currently, PlayStation are giving away a couple of Death Stranding themed avatars. We'll assume most fans know what they are, but for those who don't, it's meant to be the bridge baby (or BB) from the game.
There's two on offer and you just need to use the code "47XM-C3N8-GTFN" under the Redeem Codes section in the PlayStation Store.
However, there's a catch. Two actually.
First, for some nonsensical reason, this offer is only available to know in the US (we'll come to that) and secondly, it runs out very soon, on November 10th to be specific (that's tomorrow.)
There are ways round the whole not having a US account problem which we've explained further down.
But as we say, it's only available for another day. So you need to get your skates on if you want this unique freebie for your account.
We'll leave you with this handy guide on what to do if you're not in the states, which can be found just below our final thoughts from our Death Stranding review .
Death Stranding Review – 5/5
– Reviewed on PS4 Pro
Death Stranding is the most unique big-budget game I’ve ever played, a socially-minded injection of inventive ideas into a genre that has long survived by being lazy and brutish. This ambitious formula-flipper is brimming with empathy and carefully courts cinematic influences, an ensemble cast and a world of eye-watering scale, delivering a sticky gameplay loop to tie it all together and create a console generation-defining experience.
All of this is complemented by an epic narrative and a meticulously melancholy world that carefully reflects the endangered society we live in, somehow using the surreal and imaginative elements debuted in trailers to deliver impactful truths and commentary about our divided world. Once more Kojima has proven himself as a brave game maker with boundary-probing ideas that will advance and influence the space for years to come.
The Good
- A rich understanding of cinematic principles and a stellar cast results in a nuanced, affecting narrative
- The gorgeous, oppressive world balances heavy gloom and hope to leave a lasting impression
- A remarkable body of music soundtracks a series of tear-jerking moments, with emotion layered carefully into the sticky gameplay loop
- Best in class graphics thanks to the stunning detail afforded by the Decima engine
The Bad
- I’ve played it all and I’m desperate for more
How to Create a PSN Account for a Different Region
Say you want to buy games from the US store and you're not in the states, here’s how you can get involved. This excellent guide fromPush Squaretakes you through the steps of setting up a U.S. region PlayStation Network account.
-
Log out of your usual PSN account.
-
Hit 'New User' on the subsequent screen.
-
Hit 'Create a User'.
-
Hit 'New to PSN? Create an account'.
-
Hit 'Sign up now'.
-
Choose 'US' as your region.
-
Select English as your language.
-
Use a random Date of Birth, but it's best to make sure it's over 18-years-old.
-
Here's where it gets tricky. You'll have to use a genuine address, including postal/zip code, for that region to sign up for a US PSN account. We'd recommend using a hotel or restaurant or something and just find the address on Google Maps. You could try PlayStation's headquarters in San Mateo if you want to be sneaky.
-
It will now ask for an email address. Make sure this is a genuine email address that you own, and one that hasn't been tied to a PSN account before. You have to verify this email account.
-
Come up with a name for your new PSN account.
-
Accept the privacy settings and Terms of Service.
-
Set your PS4 as your primary PS4, which will allow you to play games from any region on your main PSN account.
-
Finally, verify your account.
-
Is Death Stranding coming to Xbox One?
Once you’re up and running, all you need to do is sign into the PSN Store and redeem the Avatars.
You don't need to worry about staying region-locked to the US, because as Push Square points out, "As long as you've set your PS4 as your primary PS4 you can play every game you own from all of your PSN accounts tied to your PS4."
