New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Final Fantasy and Luigi's Mansion 3 are all coming to Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Direct delivered some major announcements to gamers on Thursday (September 13).

Firstly, New Super Mario Bros. U – the side-scrolling platformer first released on the Wii U – is on its way to the Nintendo Switch with a Deluxe version.

Aside from including the features in the original game, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will also feature two new characters – Nabbit, who completely changes the game by not taking any damage from enemies, and Toadette, who can power up with a crown to become Peachette and gain a double jump.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is out on January 11.

Also heading to the Switch with New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is New Super Luigi U, another side-scrolling platformer. Starring Luigi, the game will be included with New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for free.

Plus, in more Luigi news, Luigi’s Mansion 3 (apparently a working title) has been announced for the Nintendo Switch.

The third entry in the series made its debut at the start of the Nintendo Direct presentation with a short teaser video, but not much else was revealed about the game other than a 2019 release date.

And Nintendo Direct also revealed that HD versions of some classic Final Fantasy games are heading to the Nintendo Switch.

Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster are all in the works, along with the recently-released Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.

This is the first time any of these games are being released on a Nintendo system. Expect them to release sometime next year.
