Mate 20 Pro boost – Here’s when this phone could receive a major Huawei update

Mate 20 Pro was Huawei’s second flagship smartphone of 2018 – the handset arrived with a commendable camera system, fast internals and a number of then innovative features such as an in-display fingerprint scanner and reverse wireless charging.

Mate 20 Pro launched running Android 9 Pie with Huawei’s own EMUI 9.0 skin running on top but later this year it is anticipated to be upgraded to Android 10.

Android 10 is the newest iteration of Google’s operating system that comes with a deluge of additional functionality for fans to get excited about.

These include new navigation gestures, improved notifications and more.

Huawei has already confirmed the Mate 20 Pro has been given approval to receive Android 10 “as and when it is released by Google”.

On Huawei devices, the firm’s new EMUI 10 skin will run over Android 10.

A new report from MyDrivers has claimed Huawei will release a beta for EMUI 10 running on top of Android 10 for the Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20, Mate 20 X and Mate 20 RS towards the end of September this year.

This means owners of any of these flagships may not have to wait long to experience the Chinese firm’s latest and greatest software.

However, it is worth noting if Huawei does indeed release a beta of EMUI 10 for its Mate 20 series of devices, user are not advised to install this on their primary phone.

This is because early software typically has more bugs and issues than final builds.

Huawei has already announced an EMUI 10 beta for its P30 Pro flagship will begin on September 8.

It is currently unclear when Huawei will release a final version of EMUI 10 running on top of Android 10 for its P30 and Mate 20 series of phones.

Express.co.uk has already tested the Chinese firm’s new EMUI 10 skin – we were full of praise for its new aesthetic and additional functionality.

Huawei has given EMUI 10 the tagline “beyond the beauty” and it is certainly clear the firm has focused on its design this year.

Just like Samsung’s One UI skin, EMUI 10 positions many vital app functions towards the bottom of a smartphone’s display, making it much easier to use larger devices such as the P30 Pro.

EMUI 10 also totes an improved dark mode, a new app drawer and a redesigned camera application.
