Instead of long-term contracts, you can choose from a selection of passes, some daily, some weekly and some monthly, with each giving you access to a selection of on-demand content as well as some live TV. Here’s our guide for those looking to get started.
Signing up to Now TV
The first thing you’ll need to do is create a Now TV account. You can do this by following the links on the Now TV web page where you’ll be asked to come up with a password.
You’ll also be asked for your payment details and to set up a PIN for payment and parental controls if required. These can be managed in the My Account section.
That’s it, once you’ve completed these easy steps, you’re ready to explore the hundreds of great entertainment options that will have you sat in front of your TV for hours.
Now TV Passes
Now TV have a massive list of passes that will unlock all your entertainment needs. As mentioned above, these are split into different packages that will cater to your viewing needs, wether that is TV boxsets, movies or sports.
It is worth mentioning up top that, while all of these passes have a monthly fee to access, they all have a 14-day free trial to give you a little taste of what to expect. You can redeem this the first time you sign up and get 2 weeks of free viewing.
The Entertainment Pass, which has just box sets and TV shows, will cost you £7.99 a month. TV series include American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and The Flash.
The Entertainment Pass could be the perfect option for when Game of Thrones finally returns to the small screen in April 2019. Winter is coming.
The Sky Cinema Pass, with more than 1,000 movies, will cost you £9.99 a month. Movies streaming right now include Coco, Black Panther, Downsize and Fifty Shades Freed.
The Sky Sports Pass, which can be split into just a 24-hour long day pass for £7.99, or a month pass (which is on a special deal right now) for £20 (down from £33.99). It will let you catch the latest Premier League and Champions League action, as well as Rugby Union and the Formula 1.
The Kids Pass, which has dozens of great entertainment for all the young ones in your life, meanwhile, will cost you just £3.99.
The Hayu Pass is the option to go for if you are obsessed with reality TV, though, and will cost you £3.99. You can watch Keeping up with the Kardashians, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Vanderpump Rules.
Now TV box
If you’re after living-room viewing, one of the easiest ways to watch is via the NOW TV Smart Box.
This nifty little hub is super quick at streaming, lets you pause and rewind live TV, and also promises “over 60 Freeview channels + 15 HD channels”.
It starts at £45.99 for the device only, or £49.99 for the box plus a 1-month Entertainment Pass, a 1-month Sky Cinema Pass, a Kids Pass, and a Sky Sports Day Pass.
Similar in function to Google’s Chromecast or the Amazon Fire TV Stick, setting up the set-top box is simple. Just plug it into your TV with the supplied HDMI cable and you’ll be prompted by onscreen instructions to connect to your existing Wi-Fi network.
Even without paying for any NOW TV services, the boxes alone will turn your television into a smart TV, enabling access to free catch-up services such as BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and All 4.
Now TV Smart Stick
Now TV dont just deal in big boxes though. You can also get the modest Now TV Smart Stick, which is great for streaming on multiple devices.
It works in the exact same vein as the Now TV Box, but is just smaller and a bit cheaper.
You can buy the Stick on its own for just £14.99. Or you can opt for three packages for a little bit more.
You can choose the Now TV Smart Stick + a 2-month Entertainment Pass for £19.99. For movies, go for the Smart Stick + a 1-month Sky Cinema Pass for £19.99.
Or, if Sport is more your thing, go for the Smart Stick + a 1-month Sky Sports Month Pass for £29.99.
All the current Smart Stick bundle deals will save you around 35% if you bought it all individually, so it is a great time to buy right now.
Now TV on your Smart TV
If you’ve got an LG smart TV or recent Samsung one, chances are there’s a NOW TV app on there, meaning that you don’t need a separate box.
The app should be easy enough to find on your telly’s home menu, but you can also look for it using the on-screen search function if not.
Now TV can also be watched via compatible LG Blu-ray players and sound bars, as well as the Google Chromecast streaming stick and most Roku boxes or streaming sticks (Roku actually makes the NOW TV box for Sky).
Sony and Panasonic’s smart TVs aren’t supported, and neither are the Amazon Fire TV stick or Chromebook devices.
Now TV on smartphones & tablets
Ensuring you’re never too far away from a TV fix, you can register up to five devices to your account, including all manner of smartphones and tablets. What’s more, you can even watch content on two devices at the same time.
For Apple users on iOS 8 or above, NOW TV works on all of the most recent iPhones (anything from an iPhone 4S upwards), as well as the iPod touch (4th generation upwards), plus the 2nd generation iPad and later.
The service also works on most Android smartphones and tablets – as long as they haven’t been modified or rooted, were purchased in the UK and run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or later.
Simply download the free NOW TV app from your relevant app store, enter your email and password and you’re ready to stream content straight to your device.
Bear in mind that Kindle Fire HD devices aren’t supported, and neither are Windows phones – but you can find setup info for Windows tablets here.
It’s best to stream content over Wi-Fi, however, as watching video over 3G or 4G will eat into your data allowance pretty heavily.
Now TV on games consoles
NOW TV can also be watched on most of the main games consoles (notably Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4).
Setup is just as easy as on the other devices. Search the console’s app library for the NOW TV software, input your login details and you’re ready to go.
The Nintendo Wii isn’t currently supported.
