Mobile network O2 has revealed an exciting new Christmas gift for its customers. And it’s a biggie.
Those who already pay for a monthly contract or SIM-only plan with O2 will now be able to pick from a variety of new upgrades, including a complimentary membership to Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Prime Music and more. That means you’ll be able to tune-in to exclusive Premier League matches shown on Prime Video for the first time this year, as well as shows like The Grand Tour, Good Omens and Man In The High Castle.
Given that Amazon charges £5.99 a month for its video on-demand offering alone, this is a very generous stocking filler from O2.
Dubbed O2 Extras, the new perks include the aforementioned Prime Video and Prime Music, as well as a subscription to audiobook service Audible or magazine subscription service Cafeyn, which lets you browse through print articles from your smartphone or tablet without buying each individual magazine. From December 16, 2019 customers will also get the choice to pick a subscription to MelodyVR, which lets you experience sold-out shows, intimate performances and far-flung festivals in Virtual Reality (VR).
O2 is also offering a so-called International Bolt-On as one of the perks. This lets you take your monthly minutes, texts and mobile data with you abroad on business or holiday without racking up eye-watering international bills. For those with contracts that include 5GB or more, you’ll need to pay £1 a month for 36 months to pack all of your usual perks with you when you travel abroad. That’s a saving of some £72 on what the perk would usually cost from O2.

O2 Extras is available to new and upgrading O2 Pay Monthly customers on handset, tablet and SIM-only contracts. It can be rare for these goodies to apply to existing customers – with the best perks often going (unfairly) to new customers only.
New customers and those upgrading to contracts of 30GB/month will get six-month memberships to the service of their choice, while those on 5GB – 30GB/month can enjoy three-month memberships to all of the above services.
Either way, this is definitely a Christmas gift that will last well into the new year.

With O2 Extras, our customers can get even more from their tariff with a range of amazing services and features to suit them. “And we’ll be adding even more exciting new offers over the coming months. The services are all managed through the MyO2 platform, meaning there’s no extra admin involved in enjoying your chosen O2 extra.”
The news follows a similarly generous Christmas gift from Sky TV to its customers, which offered access to Sky Sports over part of the festive period, as well as a free film from the Sky Cinema catalogue and more. The offer applies to all existing customers and can be claimed right now.
