After months of rumours, leaks and deafening hype, Samsung will finally take to the stage in San Francisco tonight to show off a range of new devices. The Galaxy S20 series is expected to dominate proceedings and offer a super smooth 120Hz display and a new camera system complete with a 108-megapixel primary sensor and a 10x optical zoom. However, it’s also expected we’ll see the South Korean firm’s newest foldable phone – the Galaxy Z Flip – in addition to revised Galaxy Buds with better battery life. It’s also possible a new Galaxy Watch could debut, although this hasn’t been prominently rumoured like all the other products mentioned.
Samsung’s Unpacked show will kick-off at 6.30pm UK time. Here’s the timings for the show across the globe:
• San Francisco (PST) – 10.30am Tuesday

So what are we expecting from the first Unpacked event of the year? Well, rumours and leaks have suggested the Galaxy S20 will come in three main models: the Galaxy S20, the Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.
As the naming conventions suggest, the Galaxy S20 will be the most affordable version of the handset, the Galaxy S20 will be the series’ middle child and the S20 Ultra 5G will be the most premium device Samsung has to offer.
It’s expected 4G and 5G versions of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ will be made available, meaning there could be a total of five S20 models shown off in total.
We already have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the S20 series. That’s because the internet has been flooded with leaks highlighting each model’s design and specs.
As expected, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G will be the most impressive S20 flavour. The device will reportedly boast a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a quad camera system and a huge 5,000mAh battery.
Additionally, it’s also been tipped the handset will be powered by Samsung’s new in-house Exynos 990 chipset and have up to 16GB of RAM.
Then there’s the Galaxy Z Flip, Samsung’s next foldable phone that’s expected to take clear inspiration from the Motorola Razr. Samsung recently showed off the device in full during an advert that aired during the Academy Awards on Sunday. It seems the device will come with a pliable OLED display that can be flipped open like popular handsets in the mid-00s.
Samsung’s advert also showed the device with an external display and a dual-camera system on its rear. It’s currently unclear what the specs of the device are or if it will match the S20 series in terms of features.
It’s also expected Samsung will accompany its new smartphones with the announcement of new Galaxy Buds that boast an impressive 11 hours on a single charge. For context, that’s more than double the life of Apple’s AirPods.
There could be one big trade-off for all that longevity though. It seems the new headphones won’t offer any kind of noise-cancelling technology à la AirPods Pro.
Last, but certainly not least, there’s also the chance a new Galaxy Watch could be unveiled by Samsung later today. The last three Unpacked events from Samsung have all featured a new wearable, so it’s certainly possible the firm could continue that trend.
Rumours and leaks have suggested Samsung is hard at work on a new Galaxy Watch, however it’s unclear if it will debut today or not.
