Galaxy S10 was Samsung’s first flagship smartphone series of 2019 – the device arrived in four models: the Galaxy S10e, standard Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and the Galaxy S10 5G.
The quartet each come with a great display, a capable camera system and deliver snappy performance.
Moreover, each S10 unit also comes pre-installed with Samsung’s One UI software based on Android 9 Pie.
One UI launched last year and is easily the South Korean tech giant’s best Android skin yet – the software is most notable for positioning the content of native apps towards the middle and bottom of a phone display, making navigation on larger devices easier.
Last month SamMobile declared Samsung was hard at work on a new version of One UI, dubbed 2.0, based on Android 10.
At the time details about the new software’s features were light – however it was assumed Samsung owners would be treated to many of the fresh functions Google has already announced for Android 10.
These include new permissions, refined notifications and improved gestures.
However, now it seems Samsung fans may have got their first look at One UI 2.0 running on a Galaxy S10+ courtesy of Brazilian YouTuber Dudu Rocha.
Rocha posted a video where he compared an alleged build of One UI 2.0 to the current version of One UI running on a Galaxy S9.
The new skin was shown to be much more of an iterative update than a substantial overhaul – the positioning of some content was exhibited to have changed for instance.
One of the biggest additions though was displayed to be a screen recorder, a native feature not currently present within Samsung’s current One UI software.
Rocha showed the new function in action – it appeared to work intuitively.
Moreover, the new One UI version was shown to have support for Google’s new Android 10 gestures – where no navigation bar is present at the bottom of a phone’s display and a swipe from the left or right inwards acts as a back button.
In terms of its aesthetic, One UI 2.0 was shown to look basically the same as its predecessor.
If the build shown by Rocha is legitimate, it is more than likely not the final version of One UI 2.0.
This means more features could debut in the new software than was shown in the Brazilian YouTuber’s video.
Samsung is expected to hold a developer conference later this year where it could unveil One UI 2.0 in full.
