The 4K revolution may finally be in full swing but now there’s something even better arriving in living rooms.
Sony announced the official launch of its first 8K TV last week with the ZG9 now available to buy.
This new television arrives in two sizes with the larger 98-inch version costing a staggering £85,000.
For that money, you get a telly that offers four times the resolution of 4K and 16 times that of Full HD with this crisp TV packing a whopping 33 million pixels into its huge screen.
If you’re wondering what’s the point of 8K, when there’s currently no content available in this format, then Sony is boasting its clever set can upscale almost any film or TV show to near 8K quality.
Along with things looking sharper than a newly pressed suit, the ZG9 also sounds pretty good as well.
This TV packs four front-facing speakers into its case with the clever audio making the sound appear to come right from the centre of the screen.
As with all modern sets, the ZG9 is fully internet connected and is powered by Android so users get access to a swathe of apps and extra online content.
Other fancy touches include a smart aluminium remote control which has been completely redesigned to make it easier to use and a neat design which hides all those irritating cables.
Along with Sony lifting the lid on its new age of TVs, LG has also now joined the 8K party.
The Korean firm has just announced that, from today, sales of the their first 8K OLED TV will begin.
