A Facebook Messenger bug has been causing old messages to appear for some users – including those from friends who have passed away.
The bug causes old chat messages – some dating from several years ago – to pop up through Messenger’s tabs.
While Facebook says it has now find this issue, it’s left several users rattled.
Adam tweeted: “Thank you Facebook for sending me notifications of messages sent over a year old.
"Many were from the day my partner, Dean, passed away & now I’ve spent my evening in fear of what else I’m going to see.”
Max added: “Was just on Facebook and old messages from people I haven’t talked to in years were hoping up like they were just sent to me.”
Speaking to Mashable, Facebook confirmed that the problem has been resolved.
