Facebook users are facing a frustrating night with many being left unable to access the hugely-popular app.
The social network’s smartphone application, which centres around sharing messages, photos and videos to friends and family, is currently down and not working.
The outage started around 11pm GMT, with many continuing to suffer almost one hour later.
Independent outage monitor DownDetector, which tracks social media mentions to try and track issues with popular websites and online services, has recorded more than 500 reports from users who are having issues accessing the app.
Users have also taken to Down Detectors forum to complain about the problems with one saying, “Every time I open facebook app it immediately closes.”
Along with the complaints on the forum page, fans of Facebook have taken to Twitter to vent their anger over the outage.
The tweets are arriving thick and fast with one user saying, “OK who broke Facebook today? Can’t scroll on the Android app.”
Another added, “Was just forced to uninstall Facebook on my phone because a new update keeps crashing the app.
“Seriously considering not putting it back on. Might just go a week or two without it and see how it goes.”
