EE has announced new changes for customers across the UK amid the novel coronavirus pandemic gripping the country. The BT-owned network is now offering unlimited mobile data for all NHS workers who use the network. If this promotion sounds familiar at all it’s likely because Vodafone has already rolled out unlimited data for the next 30 days to NHS employees on its network.
However, while Vodafone currently limits its unlimited mobile data promotion for 30 days, EE customers will enjoy the offer for the next six months.
BT Consumer Division CEO Marc Allera said: “We hope this gives NHS staff one less thing to worry about. They can keep in touch with friends and family and use the internet without worrying about using up their data. Along with the discount we already provide, this is a thank you from all of us at EE to those in the NHS that are working so hard for us all.”
EE already provides a 20 per cent discount off its monthly mobile contracts, SIM-only deals and Pay As You Go options for NHS workers year-round. Vodafone and a number of other carriers also provide a monthly discount to healthcare workers.

To be eligible for the six months of unlimited data, all NHS workers need to do is register online with a valid NHS email address – this includes those staff already receiving discounts on their monthly mobile plans from EE. After that, EE will send out a text confirming the unlimited data is on their account until October 9 2020.

The new offer is being supported with a TV campaign featuring Kevin Bacon detailing the offer and thanking NHS workers on behalf of EE for all they are doing to support the country. The campaign will run on TV, video on-demand services like ITV Hub and social media.
This is one of a number of initiatives from EE and parent company BT to support the NHS during the ongoing public health crisis which has left thousands of people of all ages dead across the UK. EE and BT are supporting efforts to fight the virus with technology for hospitals, doctors and nurses as well as connecting many of the temporary field hospitals around the country, including London’s NHS Nightingale Hospital.
BT has also made it possible for BT Sport customers to ask BT to give their monthly subscription credit to the NHS Charities Together for Covid-19 Urgent Appeal. So far customers have kindly donated £282,000 to the cause. “We thank those customers for their generosity,” BT told Express.co.uk in a statement.
